Bruce Willis\u2019<\/a> wife says the actor\u2019s brain is \u201cfailing him\u201d three years after he retired from acting due to frontotemporal dementia.<\/p>\n

Emma Heming Willis is set to talk about her experience caring for the action star following his diagnosis in an interview with ABC News\u2019 Diane Sawyer,<\/a> airing Tuesday night.<\/p>\n

\u201cBruce is in really great health overall. It\u2019s just his brain that is failing him\u2026\u201d she told Sawyer. \u201cThe language is going, and we\u2019ve learned to adapt. And we have a way of communicating with him, which is just a different way.\u201d<\/p>\n

In 2023, Willis\u2019 family announced he was living with dementia and would no longer be able to work as an actor. His diagnosis has severely limited his language skills and is also known to cause changes in personality and behavior.<\/p>\n

Though her husband\u2019s ability to talk, listen and comprehend speech has declined, the former model said the personality she fell in love with still surfaces from time to time.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot days, but we get moments,\u201d she revealed. \u201cIt\u2019s his laugh, right? Like, he has such a hearty laugh. And, you know, sometimes you\u2019ll see that twinkle in his eye, or that smirk, and, you know, I just get transported.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd it\u2019s just hard to see, because as quickly as those moments appear, then it goes,\u201d Heming Willis went on. \u201cIt\u2019s hard, but I\u2019m grateful. I\u2019m grateful that my husband is still very much here.\u201d<\/p>\n
