JACKSONVILLE, Fla.<\/strong> \u2013 David Venegas has been counting the days\u2014one by one\u2014since his brother, Brandon Venegas, was killed in a hit-and-run.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe last thing we got was: \u2018No leads, no nothing,\u2019\u201d David said.<\/p>\n

Police say 40-year-old Brandon, the youngest of three brothers, was killed on Memorial Day behind a Merill Road Walgreens in Arlington.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a night his family relives over and over.<\/p>\n

David, who now lives in Wisconsin, said Brandon took a shortcut through that area, a common path for neighborhood residents.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re kind of left here literally with no answers and a lot of broken hearts, you know, an empty home for his daughter and a lot of us,\u201d David said.<\/p>\n

Weeks after the incident, the Jacksonville Sheriff\u2019s Office released surveillance video showing a white mid-sized SUV driving through the area. Authorities believe the vehicle is connected to the hit-and-run.<\/p>\n

David has watched the video \u201cabout 10,000\u201d times. <\/p>\n

\u201cI have people, my own friends and family — luckily, we have Facebook and social media, so everyone [says], \u2018Oh, I think this car looks like this\u2019 and \u2018A lot are probably close.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

The problem, David said, is that the blurry vehicle image is all they have to go on. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe have a vehicle that\u2019s blurry in 2025,\u201d David said. \u201c[It\u2019s] kind of ridiculous.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite three months passing and not much changing, the family expresses gratitude for the community\u2019s support.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you to everyone that\u2019s helped thus far, continue to help,\u201d David said. \u201cIf you know something, if you were the one to do it, we want to try and bring closure.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe need something,\u201d David said. \u201cI know they have to have more than they\u2019ve shared with us. And it just can\u2019t be a dead end like that.\u201d<\/p>\n
