Wednesday brings a chance for scattered showers and storms across North, Central, and South-Central Texas. The good news? Severe weather isn\u2019t expected. As we head into the holiday weekend, a stronger cold front looks to push through, bringing noticeably cooler temperatures, especially across the northern half of the state. Highs there are expected to top to in 80s, nearly 10 degrees below normal for this time of year. Along with the cooler air, we\u2019re also looking at daily chances for showers and storms for most of the state continuing through Sunday. So, if you have outdoor plans, be sure to keep an eye on the forecast!<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0Over 1,700-acre state park is coming to Uvalde County<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n

A new state park is coming to the Hill Country that will span 1,720-acres in Uvalde County. The new state park is the result of a land acquisition from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, according to a news release.<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0Garland ISD expands free meal program as other Texas districts raise prices<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n

Rising food and labor costs are hitting school cafeterias across Texas, and many families are paying more at the lunch line.<\/p>\n

This year, Frisco Independent School District raised the price of a high school lunch to $4, up from $3.75. Argyle Independent School District increased lunches to $5, up from $4.75. Georgetown Independent School District added 10 cents to its meals.<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0Southwest Airlines’ new policy to affect plus-size travelers<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n

Southwest Airlines will soon require travelers who don’t fit within the armrests of their seat to pay for an extra one in advance, part of a string of recent changes the carrier is making.<\/p>\n

The new rule goes into effect Jan. 27, the same day Southwest starts assigning seats.<\/p>\n
