But first, let’s address the elephant in the room: I failed to give a nod to Fort Worth Burger Week in my last column.

When I looked at my calendar, barely lucid from countless hours of blue light-induced eye strain, I found out that not only was there such a thing as Fort Worth Burger Week, it was in full swing. This was only made worse when I remembered that my last column was about meaty goodness.

Just so you know, Fort Worth Burger Week was an event where restaurants around town served specialty burgers for $7 and donated a portion of the proceeds to the Tarrant Area Food Bank.

So, please accept my apology, friends. If you want to drop me a line to ensure I know about the latest taste trends and upcoming food fests, email me at thedish@fortworthreport.org.

Now, here are some Labor Day specials around Tarrant County.

Live music at The Lakehouse

For some tunes and time by Eagle Mountain Lake, diners can stop by The Lakehouse at Fort Worth’s Harbor One Marina Aug. 30, where rock band The Halftones will perform ’70s-2000s rock and alternative hits. Music starts at 8 p.m.

Seafood is big on the restaurant’s menu, but so are sandwiches, tacos, burgers and beers. Fried jalapeños and pickles, cheese sticks, loaded fries, nachos and Cajun chicken quesadillas are among the appetizers, and while herbivores might not find many savory mains here, dessert and cocktails are still on the table. Some of the sweets include chocolate cake, Key lime pie and a chocolate chip brownie with vanilla ice cream.

9307 Boat Club Road, Fort Worth; 817-386-3156

Diners can have a meat cute at Del Frisco’s Grille, Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse

Remember when I said I wanted to work the term “meat cute” into my column last week? Now I have, and I hope you appreciated it as much as I did.

Del Frisco’s Grille and its sister restaurant, Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse, are both offering red meat Labor Day specials Aug. 28 to Sept. 1.

The Grille is showcasing a half rack of ribs with barbecue sauce, potato salad and sweet corn for $25. At Double Eagle, customers get a “shareable feast for two” for $115, according to a PR email, with per-person salad starters and a big-enough-for-two 32-ounce porterhouse with truffle whipped potatoes. Desserts are a shared creme brulee, chocolate mousse or butter cake for $8 extra.

Not-so-quick side note: There’s still time to try the Del Frisco’s Grille $49 three-course Restaurant Week menu until Aug. 31. You can check out that menu online, but the entrees are baby back ribs, roasted chicken, lemon dill salmon or filet mignon.

I’ve mentioned Restaurant Week several times recently but if you’re not familiar, it’s when eateries around town donate 20% of each meal’s cost to charity.
