Spotify is giving listeners a new way to share their favorite songs, podcasts and audiobooks with friends.<\/p>\n

The streaming platform announced on Tuesday that it is launching a new “Messages” feature<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“Messages” are one-on-one conversations where Spotify users can share content and react with text and emojis.<\/p>\n

“Spotify users have told us they want a dedicated space within the app to share songs, podcasts, or audiobooks they\u2019re excited about with friends and family, and an easy way to keep track of recommendations,” Spotify said in a news release<\/a>. “For artists, authors, and creators, easier sharing means more word-of-mouth recommendations and helps create new fans. Our goal is to give users what they want and make those moments of connection more seamless and streamlined in the Spotify app.”<\/p>\n

When listening to a song, podcast or audiobook in the Now Playing View, the user can tap the share icon, select and friend and then hit send to start a conversation. Once the other user accepts a message request, the two users will be able to share messages and content back and forth.<\/p>\n

Users can also access “Messages” by going to their profile photo in the top left corner.<\/p>\n

Spotify will suggest people to message based on who a user has previously shared Spotify content with, people they’ve collaborated with on Jams, Blends and playlists, or other members of a Family or Duo plan.<\/p>\n

The company said conversations are protected with “industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest.”<\/p>\n
