{"id":18008,"date":"2025-06-27T03:26:10","date_gmt":"2025-06-27T03:26:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/18008\/"},"modified":"2025-06-27T03:26:10","modified_gmt":"2025-06-27T03:26:10","slug":"im-45-and-feel-better-than-ever-8-things-i-do-every-single-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/18008\/","title":{"rendered":"I&#8217;m 45 and feel better than ever \u2014 8 things I do every single week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"eaD3-YOsxj\" data-wc=\"16\">At 45, personal trainer and dancer Emily Stephenson has an incredibly refreshing attitude to working out.<\/p>\n<p id=\"efSQt14kr8B\" data-wc=\"53\">&#8220;I want people to feel strong, confident and uplifted without focusing on the dated principles of working out just to lose weight,&#8221; she tells HELLO!. &#8220;In my mid-forties, I&#8217;m more educated and equipped now than I&#8217;ve ever been when it comes to fitness, and I have a much deeper understanding of my body.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ezi9bBDiGQH\" data-wc=\"25\">&#8220;I&#8217;ve also come to realise that factors such as diet, lifestyle and mental health are just as essential \u2013 they&#8217;re the foundation of overall wellbeing.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p id=\"evFDg5ZOfi8\" data-wc=\"50\">On how she maintains her incredibly sculpted physique, Emily says: &#8220;I prioritise movement, make healthy lifestyle choices and take care of my mental and physical health. It&#8217;s an ongoing journey, and there&#8217;s always room to grow and more to learn, but I think I&#8217;m doing okay and I feel good!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p id=\"eceItquF6uJ\" data-wc=\"15\">Here, Emily shares her eight pieces of advice for looking fab in midlife and beyond<\/p>\n<p> <img src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/e7a1adcdf483-thedancerbody2309220470.jpg\"   width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"woman with strong abs dancing with her arms in the air \" fetchpriority=\"auto\" class=\"image im-Z2Vp\"\/>Emily looks after her health<br \/>\n<strong>1. A combination of workouts<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"e8JekvxcWU0\" data-wc=\"48\">&#8220;My passion has always been dance and resistance training. The combination is ideal for me: uplifting, empowering, and highly effective. Fitness is the foundation of my life and my weekly routine varies depending on my schedule, but typically includes a mix of strength training, dance, barre and mobility.<\/p>\n<p id=\"eEA75I2-2_I\" data-wc=\"29\">&#8220;I usually aim for two or three gym sessions each week focusing primarily on free weights, light cardio &#8211; such as the stair master &#8211; and some abdominal work.<\/p>\n<p id=\"e29suF0UkZn\" data-wc=\"21\">&#8220;I&#8217;ve been strength training consistently for a long time and love the results it brings for both my mind and body.<\/p>\n<p> <img src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/aa8ff87ca012-thedancerbody2309220405.jpg\"   width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Woman with a small pink weight doing an arm workout \" fetchpriority=\"auto\" class=\"image im-Z2Vp\"\/>Strength training is important to Emily<\/p>\n<p id=\"e1qf5vb5p3H\" data-wc=\"38\">&#8220;I take a dance class at least once a week in addition to my <a class=\"hm-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thedancerbody.com\/\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"article-body-link\">The Dancer Body<\/a> workout classes I teach; this might be jazz, hip hop or an aerobics class &#8211; I love to try new things.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ePiAtg9Q8UX\" data-wc=\"43\">&#8220;Dance is a full-body experience &#8211; it gets your heart rate up, boosts brain health and supports overall wellbeing. It&#8217;s not just a workout; it&#8217;s an energy boost, a mood lifter and a powerful form of self-expression which is why it&#8217;s so loved.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Rest<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"e3_B003pLDQR\" data-wc=\"32\">&#8220;I&#8217;m conscious of having at least one rest day per week &#8211; essential for muscle repair and recovery. This combination gives me a complete training program to include cardio, strength and conditioning.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>3 . A relaxed diet<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"e2kyfahN8Urt\" data-wc=\"48\">&#8220;When it comes to food, I keep things relaxed and balanced. I eat healthily most of the time &#8211; lots of salads, buddha bowls, and protein packed stir-fries with fish, chicken, or beef. Eating well helps me feel my best and keeps me fuelled for work and training.<\/p>\n<p id=\"eZFptFf44zfl\" data-wc=\"46\">&#8220;I don&#8217;t follow a strict plan, but I do avoid takeaways, processed foods, and alcohol as much as possible. That said, I&#8217;m all for enjoying life &#8211; mint ice cream and a roast dinner with all the trimmings are my go-to treats. It&#8217;s all about balance.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p> <img src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/91b31a5fa01d-thedancerbody2309220482.jpg\"   width=\"1024\" height=\"819\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"woman dancing with her arms above her head in activewear \" fetchpriority=\"auto\" class=\"image im-Z2Vp\"\/>Dance keeps Emily feeling well<br \/>\n<strong>4. Supplements<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"eSHAvZ3Q4_sn\" data-wc=\"49\">&#8220;I take a few supplements &#8211; mainly a daily multivitamin and magnesium from Wild Nutrition. I&#8217;m also a big fan of green juices and ginger shots. That said, I believe eating well is the best (and most natural) way to nourish the body and get the nutrients we need.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>5. Journaling and meditation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"ehvIf2ztJOi5\" data-wc=\"38\">&#8220;Wellbeing is a big part of my life. I believe in simple, healthy daily practices. I journal and meditate most mornings &#8211; followed by a short stretch flow &#8211; which helps set a positive tone for the day.<\/p>\n<p id=\"etlW1_Rj2zIb\" data-wc=\"42\">&#8220;Journaling and meditation have been real game changers for me. I started these daily practices to help manage overwhelm and become a more present, grounded mum. It might be a clich\u00e9, but it&#8217;s true &#8211; you can&#8217;t pour from an empty cup.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>6. Sauna<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"e4rNfff5f7pz\" data-wc=\"27\">&#8220;I use the sauna at least twice a week to support recovery and reduce inflammation. Dry brushing<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"evL3QlGD7sjb\" data-wc=\"50\">&#8220;I<a class=\"hm-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hellomagazine.com\/hfm\/beauty-trends\/515935\/how-to-body-brush\/\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"article-body-link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u00a0dry body brush<\/a> daily and love taking Epsom or magnesium salt baths to wind down and soothe my body. My routine isn&#8217;t complicated &#8211; like many mums, I don&#8217;t have hours to spare &#8211; but making time for the things that support my recovery and overall wellbeing is essential.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>8. Reading<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"e5QdEyt9I88x\" data-wc=\"41\">&#8220;I love to read and all of these habits help keep me balanced, focused, and in a positive mindset.
