{"id":180233,"date":"2025-08-27T17:11:13","date_gmt":"2025-08-27T17:11:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/180233\/"},"modified":"2025-08-27T17:11:13","modified_gmt":"2025-08-27T17:11:13","slug":"keeping-track-of-ny-giants-practice-squad-waiver-wire-additions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/180233\/","title":{"rendered":"Keeping Track of NY Giants Practice Squad\/Waiver Wire Additions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"tagStyle_16dbupz-o_O-style_mxvz7o-o_O-style_12bse5w-o_O-style_6s3kpz\" data-mm-id=\"_1axtsr74a\">The hard part of building the 2025 roster is in the books for the <a class=\"tagStyle_16dbupz-o_O-style_snelkl\" href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/nfl\/giants\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>New York Giants<\/strong><\/a>, who now move on to the next phase: building out their 17-man practice squad and awaiting word on which waiver claims were successful.<\/p>\n<p class=\"tagStyle_16dbupz-o_O-style_mxvz7o-o_O-style_12bse5w-o_O-style_6s3kpz\" data-mm-id=\"_6238otpl7\">Word will start to trickle in about all that beginning at noon eastern, but here\u2019s a quick primer on what to expect.<\/p>\n<p class=\"tagStyle_16dbupz-o_O-style_mxvz7o-o_O-style_12bse5w-o_O-style_6s3kpz\" data-mm-id=\"_f4l1w4x2k\">Of the 17 practice squad slots available, six can be devoted to veterans with four or more years of experience. In the past, this was not allowed, as the practice squad was for unvested players who were still in the early years of their careers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"tagStyle_16dbupz-o_O-style_mxvz7o-o_O-style_12bse5w-o_O-style_6s3kpz\" data-mm-id=\"_ir0o1qn1p\">One spot may be reserved for a player from the International Pathway Program. Teams get an exemption on such a player, so expect kicker Jude McAtamney to get this spot if he\u2019s not claimed.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"tagStyle_16dbupz-o_O-style_mxvz7o-o_O-style_12bse5w-o_O-style_6s3kpz\" data-mm-id=\"_f21d7t1ol\">Per the<a class=\"tagStyle_16dbupz-o_O-style_snelkl\" href=\"https:\/\/nflpaweb.blob.core.windows.net\/website\/PDFs\/CBA\/March-15-2020-NFL-NFLPA-Collective-Bargaining-Agreement-Final-Executed-Copy.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> <strong>NFL CBA<\/strong><\/a>, (Article 33, Section 2. Signing With Other Clubs), \u201cAny player under contract to a Club as a Practice Squad player shall be completely free to negotiate and sign a Player Contract with any Club at any time during the League Year, to serve as a player on any Club\u2019s Active or Inactive List, and any Club is completely free to negotiate and sign such a Player Contract with such player, without penalty or restriction.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"tagStyle_16dbupz-o_O-style_mxvz7o-o_O-style_12bse5w-o_O-style_6s3kpz\" data-mm-id=\"_1frd8kavm\">Practice squad players with less than four years of accrued experience will earn a minimum of $13,000 per week, unless otherwise negotiated. Those with more than four years of experience will earn a minimum of $17,500 and a maximum of $22,000. That money will all count against a team\u2019s salary cap.<\/p>\n<p class=\"tagStyle_16dbupz-o_O-style_mxvz7o-o_O-style_12bse5w-o_O-style_6s3kpz\" data-mm-id=\"_2jp3xd509\">Keep it here as we\u2019ll update the Giants&#8217; practice squad additions as they become known. <\/p>\n<p><a class=\"tagStyle_12j16kw-o_O-style_snelkl\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/AdamSchefter\/status\/1960741388376842421\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>WR Lil&#8217;Jordan Humphrey<\/strong><\/a><strong\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"tagStyle_16dbupz-o_O-style_mxvz7o-o_O-style_12bse5w-o_O-style_6s3kpz\" data-mm-id=\"_11mkejye8\">Humphrey has nice size and size to his game which makes him a nie add. He caught six of eight pass targets for 94 yards and a touchdown this summer, and <a class=\"tagStyle_16dbupz-o_O-style_snelkl\" href=\"https:\/\/premium.pff.com\/nfl\/positions\/2025\/PRE\/receiving?position=WR&amp;team=21\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>won on two of three contested catches<\/strong><\/a>. But he also only managed to force one missed tackle and<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"tagStyle_12j16kw-o_O-style_snelkl\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/JordanRaanan\/status\/1960744331175977343\" rel=\"nofollow\"><strong>Trace Ford<\/strong><\/a><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"tagStyle_16dbupz-o_O-style_mxvz7o-o_O-style_12bse5w-o_O-style_6s3kpz\" data-mm-id=\"_b9tqfu9sr\">Ford produced the most quarterback pressures of any Giants defender this pre-season, while holding up very well to the physical demands of the edge player.\u00a0 If there\u2019s somebody getting up from the bottom of a pile, it\u2019s usually Ford.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"tagStyle_16dbupz-o_O-style_mxvz7o-o_O-style_12bse5w-o_O-style_6s3kpz\" data-mm-id=\"_5uivxoaod\">He was not only physical at the point of contact, he was a great backside pursuer with potential worth developing. <\/p>\n<p class=\"tagStyle_16dbupz-o_O-style_mxvz7o-o_O-style_12bse5w-o_O-style_6s3kpz\" data-mm-id=\"_h9i12gayc\"><a class=\"tagStyle_16dbupz-o_O-style_snelkl\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/DDuggan21\/status\/1960745337628581941\" rel=\"nofollow\"><strong>Dee Williams<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"tagStyle_16dbupz-o_O-style_mxvz7o-o_O-style_12bse5w-o_O-style_6s3kpz\" data-mm-id=\"_avhio51z0\">Williams\u00a0 offers depth on both special teams (as a returner) and on defense. He finished the preseason with 85 snaps, four tackles, one stop, and having allowed a <a class=\"tagStyle_16dbupz-o_O-style_snelkl\" href=\"https:\/\/premium.pff.com\/nfl\/players\/2025\/PRE\/dee-williams\/157609\/defense\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>44.4% completion rate<\/strong><\/a> on pass targets against him.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"tagStyle_12j16kw-o_O-style_snelkl\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/AlbertBreer\/status\/1960747702196822270\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>S Beau Brade<\/strong><\/a><img class=\"base_1emrqjj-o_O-initial_fzbddc-o_O-style_1a1csmw\" alt=\"Safety Beau Brade  \" title=\"Safety Beau Brade  \"\/><\/p>\n<p>Safety Beau Brade  \/ Mitch Stringer-Imagn Images<\/p>\n<p class=\"tagStyle_16dbupz-o_O-style_mxvz7o-o_O-style_12bse5w-o_O-style_6s3kpz\" data-mm-id=\"_o1sbd55s2\">Brade signed as an undrafted free agent with the Ravens last year out of Maryland. He appeared in 11 games, and registered just three tackles as a rookie,<\/p>\n<p class=\"tagStyle_16dbupz-o_O-style_mxvz7o-o_O-style_12bse5w-o_O-style_6s3kpz\" data-mm-id=\"_4petdzkrq\">This past preseason, he appeared in three games, 82 defensive snaps total, and registered zero pressures, nine tackles, and two stops.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"tagStyle_16dbupz-o_O-style_mxvz7o-o_O-style_12bse5w-o_O-style_6s3kpz\" data-mm-id=\"_qkzbaf95e\">He also allowed five out six pass targets to be complete for 44 yards, zero touchdowns. He registered one pass breakup for a <a class=\"tagStyle_16dbupz-o_O-style_snelkl\" href=\"https:\/\/premium.pff.com\/nfl\/players\/2025\/PRE\/beau-brade\/129499\/defense\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>97.2 NFL coverage rating<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong\/><a class=\"tagStyle_12j16kw-o_O-style_snelkl\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/AlbertBreer\/status\/1960747702196822270\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>CB Rico Payton<\/strong><\/a><img class=\"base_1emrqjj-o_O-initial_fzbddc-o_O-style_1a1csmw\" alt=\"Cornerback Rico Payton   \" title=\"Cornerback Rico Payton   \"\/><\/p>\n<p>Cornerback Rico Payton   \/ Dale Zanine-Imagn Images<\/p>\n<p class=\"tagStyle_16dbupz-o_O-style_mxvz7o-o_O-style_12bse5w-o_O-style_6s3kpz\" data-mm-id=\"_eufi3580i\">Payton originally signed with the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of Pittsburgh State in 2024. Last year with the Saints, he appeared in 16 games, logging 11 tackles, all on special teams. <\/p>\n<p class=\"tagStyle_16dbupz-o_O-style_mxvz7o-o_O-style_12bse5w-o_O-style_6s3kpz\" data-mm-id=\"_wrxpc00y6\">This past summer, he appeared in the first two preseason games (47 snaps total) and had two tackles, one stop, and allowed just one of three pass targets against him to be completed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"tagStyle_16dbupz-o_O-style_mxvz7o-o_O-style_12bse5w-o_O-style_6s3kpz\" data-mm-id=\"_edbfqd2th\">What happens next with the NY Giants?
