{"id":180413,"date":"2025-08-27T18:44:09","date_gmt":"2025-08-27T18:44:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/180413\/"},"modified":"2025-08-27T18:44:09","modified_gmt":"2025-08-27T18:44:09","slug":"dan-weiss-announced-as-new-play-by-play-voice-for-the-san-antonio-spurs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/180413\/","title":{"rendered":"Dan Weiss announced as new play-by-play voice for the San Antonio Spurs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\"><strong>SAN ANTONIO<\/strong> \u2013 Following the retirement of long-time San Antonio Spurs play-by-play announcer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ksat.com\/news\/local\/2025\/04\/04\/longtime-spurs-radio-broadcaster-bill-schoening-announces-retirement\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.ksat.com\/news\/local\/2025\/04\/04\/longtime-spurs-radio-broadcaster-bill-schoening-announces-retirement\/\">Bill Schoening<\/a>, the team announced his replacement who already has years of experience with the organization. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Dan Weiss, who spent the last 16 years with the Spurs, will serve as the team\u2019s new play-by-play voice for the 2025-26 NBA season, the team said Wednesday. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Weiss has spent the past seven years as the pregame and postgame studio host of Spurs television broadcasts, a news release stated. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">In a statement, Weiss acknowledged the responsibility that comes with the role. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cIt is an honor and a privilege to wear the headset that only six people have worn since the Spurs arrived in 1973,\u201d Weiss said. \u201cFrom Terry Stembridge to Bill Schoening, Spurs radio has established a legacy and tradition of excellence in both our community and around the world that I look forward to continuing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Weiss joined the Spurs Sports &amp; Entertainment as the play-by-play voice of the San Antonio Rampage hockey team in 2009. He held the role until 2018. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Some of Weiss\u2019 past accomplishments include winning the James H.
