Fort Worth-based BNSF Railway is partnering with a Florida railroad company to provide coast-to-coast freight service.<\/p>\n

BNSF officials said the partnership with Jacksonville-based CSX, a Class 1 railroad, will provide seamless service between the western and eastern parts of the United States.<\/p>\n

The partnership will also convert truck-based domestic freight service to rail between Phoenix and Atlanta. The initiative includes direct services between the Port of New York and New Jersey to Norfolk, Virginia, and Kansas City, Missouri.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis collaboration between BNSF and CSX demonstrates the power of partnership, delivering greater flexibility, efficiency and value for our customers,\u201d Jon Gabriel, BNSF group vice president of consumer products, said in a statement<\/a>. \u201cWe are looking forward to these offerings providing immediate, streamlined service to the supply chain across key markets nationwide.\u201d<\/p>\n

The initiative will include two new 10,000-foot sidings \u2014 sections of short railroad tracks \u2014 to improve meet-and-pass operations between Phoenix and Flagstaff in Arizona.<\/p>\n

\u201cThrough this new connectivity, CSX and BNSF are connecting western and eastern U.S. markets, creating faster, more reliable service,\u201d Drew Johnson, CSX vice president of intermodal sales and marketing, said in a statement<\/a>. \u201cTogether, we\u2019re opening access to key markets and strengthening options for our mutual customers.\u201d<\/p>\n

Officials for the railroad companies said the new service will offer immediate value for customers by increasing flexibility and optionality while delivering integrated service for freight.<\/p>\n

BNSF previously announced that it partnered<\/a> with J.B. Transport Services Inc. and GMXT, Mexico\u2019s largest rail provider, to provide freight rail and truck service to Mexico. That service, called Quantum de M\u00e9xico, launched May 30.<\/p>\n
