Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Wintour, 75 \u2014 who <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/05\/06\/entertainment\/all-the-celebrities-who-skipped-the-2025-met-gala-including-taylor-swift-jennifer-lopez-and-blake-lively\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">has a reputation<\/a> for being cold, controlling and intimidating \u2014 will retain some of her power at the publication by hanging onto two key positions, the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n<p>She\u2019ll remain as Cond\u00e9 Nast\u2019s global chief content officer and Vogue\u2019s global editorial director, with the magazine\u2019s new editor-in-chief reporting directly to her.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I became the editor of Vogue, I was eager to prove to all who might listen that there was a new, exciting way to imagine an American fashion magazine,\u201d Wintour, the Briton who took the helm of US Vogue in 1988, told the magazine in a staff meeting Thursday.<\/p>\n<p> Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow, I find that my greatest pleasure is helping the next generation of impassioned editors storm the field with their own ideas, supported by a new, exciting view of what a major media company can be,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>But the tastemaker \u2014 who inspired the diabolically shrewd fashion magazine editor played by Meryl Streep in the film <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/07\/09\/entertainment\/the-devil-wears-prada-sequel-in-development-at-disney-report\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cThe Devil Wears Prada\u201d<\/a> \u2014 made it clear she\u2019s not hanging up her hat at the esteemed fashion bible.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[I\u2019ll be] paying very close attention to the fashion industry and to the creative cultural force that is our extraordinary Met Ball, and charting the course of future Vogue Worlds, and any other original fearless ideas we may come up with,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Nicki Minaj, Anna Wintour, and Grace Coddington at a Carolina Herrera fashion show on Sept. 12, 2011. Charles Sykes\/Invision\/AP<\/p>\n<p>Wintour appeared somewhat frequently at events such as state dinners and East Room ceremonies, where she was unfriendly, the source said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe didn\u2019t speak to anyone and we were instructed to not approach,\u201d the source said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe did work with her team for the Obama-Clinton-Biden event in New York and her team had a \u2018vision\u2019 for how it would go and pushed back on everything we tried to adjust. Getty Images for GQ<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s an unexpected move as Wintour has long squashed rumors about her retirement from Vogue.<\/p>\n<p>In February, as she was made a companion of honor during a ceremony at Buckingham Palace, Wintour said: \u201cThis morning His Majesty asked me if this meant I was going to stop working and I said firmly, no.
