F. Kennedy Jr: quit or be fired.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Susan Monarez has resigned as director of the CDC after less than a month at the helm.  REUTERS<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs her attorney\u2019s statement makes abundantly clear, Susan Monarez is not aligned with the President\u2019s agenda of Making America Healthy Again,\u201d White House spokesman Kush Desai said in a statement.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince Susan Monarez refused to resign despite informing HHS leadership of her intent to do so, the White House has terminated Monarez from her position with the CDC,\u201d he added.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The clash between Monarez, who was sworn in less than a month ago, and Kennedy stems from disagreements over vaccine policy, a Trump administration official told the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/08\/27\/health\/cdc-monarez-kennedy-vaccines.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">New York Times<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The official claimed RFK demanded Monarez\u2019s resignation on Monday and when she refused, he ordered her to fire top CDC leaders by the end of the week.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Bullet holes are seen in windows at the Centers For Disease Control (CDC) Global Headquarters following a shooting that left two dead, on August 9, 2025 in Atlanta, Georgia. Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Kennedy demanded a second meeting with the public health official on Tuesday, where he accused Monarez of \u201cbeing a leaker\u201d and told her she would be fired, after learning that she called Senate health committee Chairman. We thank her for her dedicated service to the American people,\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/HHSGov\/status\/1960818490614415869\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">the post read.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Kennedy\u00a0\u201chas full confidence in his team at [CDC] who will continue to be vigilant in protecting Americans against infectious diseases at home and abroad,\u201d the post continued, without naming her replacement.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Monarez\u2019s lawyer\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/cdc-director-susan-monarez-50dfbec849b53b4593755d2e6e616687\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">accused the Trump administration<\/a>\u00a0of targeting their client and said she \u201chas neither resigned nor received notification from the White House that she has been fired.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a person of integrity and devoted to science, she will not resign,\u201d attorneys Abbe Lowell, who previously represented Hunter Biden, and Mark Zaid said in a statement.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Secretary Robert F. For that, she has been targeted,\u201d they added. \u201cThis is not about one official.
