{"id":181768,"date":"2025-08-28T06:44:14","date_gmt":"2025-08-28T06:44:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/181768\/"},"modified":"2025-08-28T06:44:14","modified_gmt":"2025-08-28T06:44:14","slug":"microsoft-fires-two-employees-over-breaking-into-its-presidents-office","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/181768\/","title":{"rendered":"Microsoft fires two employees over breaking into its president\u2019s office"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Pro-Palestinian demonstrators hold banners and signs as they protest outside the Microsoft Build conference at the Seattle Convention Center in Seattle, Washington on May 19, 2025. <\/p>\n<p>Jason Redmond | Afp | Getty Images<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/MSFT\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Microsoft<\/a> on Thursday said that it had terminated two employees who broke into President Brad Smith&#8217;s office earlier this week.<\/p>\n<p>The news comes after seven current and former Microsoft employees on Tuesday <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/08\/26\/microsoft-removed-protesters-who-stormed-office-israel-military-work.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">held a protest in the company&#8217;s building<\/a> in Redmond, Washington, in opposition to the Israeli military&#8217;s alleged use of the company&#8217;s software as part of its invasion of Gaza.<\/p>\n<p>The protesters, affiliated with the group No Azure for Apartheid, gained entry into Smith&#8217;s office and had demanded that Microsoft end its direct and indirect support to Israel.<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DN4Wg9-kfAA\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">post<\/a> on Instagram, No Azure for Apartheid said Riki Fameli and Anna Hattle had been fired by the company.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Two employees were terminated today following serious breaches of company policies and our code of conduct,&#8221; a Microsoft spokesperson said in a statement, noting unlawful break-ins at the executive offices.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;These incidents are inconsistent with the expectations we maintain for our employees. The company is continuing to investigate and is cooperating fully with law enforcement regarding these matters,&#8221; the statement added.<\/p>\n<p>In the aftermath of the protests, Smith <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/08\/26\/microsoft-removed-protesters-who-stormed-office-israel-military-work.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">claimed<\/a> that the protestors had blocked people out of the office, planted listening devices in the form of phones, and refused to leave until they were removed by police.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>No Azure For Apartheid defines itself as &#8220;a movement of Microsoft workers demanding that Microsoft end its direct and indirect complicity in Israeli\u00a0apartheid\u00a0and genocide.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2025\/aug\/15\/microsoft-launches-inquiry-claims-israel-used-tech-mass-surveillance-palestinians\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Guardian<\/a> earlier this month reported that the Israeli military had used Microsoft&#8217;s Azure cloud infrastructure to store the phone calls of Palestinians, leading the company to authorize a third-party investigation into whether its technology has been used in surveillance.<\/p>\n<p>Smith said on Tuesday that the company would &#8220;investigate and get to the truth&#8221;
