In the process, she accidentally shot herself in the arm.<\/p>\n<p>According to investigators, the woman later told officers she opened fire after the man assaulted her. A relative drove her from the motel to a house on Carolina Street, where she called for help.<\/p>\n<p>Officers discovered the man dead inside the motel room. The woman was taken to the hospital in stable condition.<\/p>\n<p>Homicide detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the shooting.
