JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2014 UPDATE:<\/strong> One eastbound lane has reopened, leaving two still closed.<\/p>\n All eastbound lanes on I-10 just before Hammond Boulevard and I-295 are currently closed due to a deadly crash, according to the Florida Department of Transportation.<\/p>\n However, drivers are still able to get around the wreck by using the left shoulder, FDOT’s traffic cameras show.<\/p>\n Drivers also can exit I-10 at Chaffee Road and take U.S. 90 (West Beaver Street) as a detour.<\/p>\n According to Florida Highway Patrol, at 2:05 a.m., a sedan was parked on the right shoulder of I-10 East just before Hammond Boulevard at the same time that a semitruck was traveling east on the interstate in the outside lane.<\/p>\n Troopers said the crash happened when the driver of the sedan, identified as a 72-year-old Jacksonville man, attempted to merge into the outside lane from the shoulder and hit the back of the semitruck.<\/p>\n \u00a0FHP said the man “failed to ensure it was safe” to get back onto the interstate prior to merging.<\/p>\n After the collision with the semitruck, FHP said the sedan hit a “DOT traffic sign support pole” on the right outside shoulder.<\/p>\n A 72-year-old Jacksonville woman who was a passenger in the sedan was killed in the crash, according to FHP, while the driver suffered minor injuries.
