Apple has set the date for its next big hardware event \u2014 September 9th \u2014 at which time it will introduce its next batch of Apple Watches. Shortly thereafter, it\u2019ll also roll out the next-gen operating system, watchOS 26, to the Apple Watch you already own. <\/p>\n

With watchOS 26, your current Apple Watch will receive a \u201cLiquid Glass\u201d redesign and several new features. That said, there\u2019s a little bit of catch. While watchOS 26 will be supported on all Apple Watch models that are Series 6 or later, some of the more advanced new features require a newer model.<\/p>\n

Specifically, you\u2019ll need Apple Watch released in the last two years \u2014 so, Series 9 or later \u2014 to take advantage of them. If you bought a Series 8 or the original Ultra, you\u2019re going to be missing out. <\/p>\n

The exclusive features<\/p>\n

First and most importantly, there\u2019s Wrist Flick<\/a>. This is a simple movement \u2014 quickly roll or (\u201cflick\u201d) your wrist away from you \u2014 that will quickly dismiss things like app notifications, incoming calls, and timers. <\/p>\n

This is an Accessibility feature similar to\u00a0Double Tap<\/a>, but promises to be a lot more practical for the everyday user. <\/p>\n
