Chef Henry Johnson, executive chef at Evelyn in Dallas<\/a>\u2019 Design District, is set to represent Texas on the upcoming season of Gordon Ramsay\u2019s culinary competition Hell\u2019s Kitchen<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The new season, dubbed \u201cBattle of the States,\u201d premieres Thursday, Sept. 25, at 7 p.m. CDT on Fox.<\/p>\n

For the first time in the show\u2019s history<\/a>, each competing chef will represent a different state, according to a news release.<\/p>\n

Johnson will carry the Texas banner for the show, which filmed at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Conn., the location of one of Ramsay\u2019s Hell\u2019s Kitchen restaurants.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou are literally on camera 24\/7,\u201d Johnson said, who was discovered by a show recruiter on social media. \u201cBesides being able to learn from a Michelin-starred chef, it was such a great experience pushing myself to the limit.\u201d<\/p>\n

The chef said the friendships he forged with fellow contestants were among the most rewarding aspects of the competition. Still, the most difficult part, he admitted, was being away from his family for an extended period. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m extremely humbled and honored to be able to represent Texas in the upcoming battle of the states,\u201d Johnson said.<\/p>\n

At home in Dallas, Johnson leads the kitchen at restaurant and lounge Evelyn. The concept, from Reach Hospitality \u2014 the group behind The Mexican, Black Tap and Pie Tap \u2014 captures the glamour of Hollywood\u2019s Golden Age while pairing it with modern dining.<\/p>\n

Viewers across Texas will have the chance to watch Johnson\u2019s journey unfold when Hell\u2019s Kitchen: Battle of the States kicks off Sept. 25. Ramsay and his team will narrow 50 chefs down to 18 finalists who will advance to the show\u2019s iconic kitchen.<\/p>\n
