LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Entering his second year in the NFL, running back Blake Corum is expected to help the L.A. Rams<\/a>‘ offense this season. Off the field, Corum is also helping a fan who’s facing a health battle.<\/p>\n

Corum graduated with honors from the University of Michigan. Now, he’s living through the school of hard knocks in the NFL.<\/p>\n

“It’s a business, and you have to really attack each and every day. You can’t take any days off, and you’re getting evaluated every day,” said Corum. “But as long as you are who you say you are, on and off the field, you can last a long time in this league.”<\/p>\n

In 2024, Corum won a national championship with the University of Michigan. Recently, when he heard about a Michigan fan named Joe going through dialysis as he awaits a kidney transplant, Corum, like all great running backs, didn’t hesitate.<\/p>\n

He sent Joe an autographed helmet with notes of encouragement written on it.<\/p>\n

“Joe, what I would tell you is, the type of person you are, you motivate me. You know, when I look at someone like yourself who is really fighting something real, it motivates me,” said Corum.<\/p>\n

“My motivation to you is just keep fighting man. Nothing is said and done until the good Lord says so. He has the last word, so keep smiling every day that you can, keep fighting. I’m here for you, I’ll be praying for you. Let’s attack it.”<\/p>\n

Corum is returning to the field this year after suffering a season-ending injury<\/a> in January.<\/p>\n

“I’ve learned that you have to take your time with everything. You can’t force anything. When it’s your time, your time’s going to come,” said Corum. “During that lesson, the only thing I could do was rehab and be there for my team.”<\/p>\n
