{"id":183414,"date":"2025-08-29T00:17:11","date_gmt":"2025-08-29T00:17:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/183414\/"},"modified":"2025-08-29T00:17:11","modified_gmt":"2025-08-29T00:17:11","slug":"vince-young-ricky-williams-highlight-joel-klatts-all-time-texas-team","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/183414\/","title":{"rendered":"Vince Young, Ricky Williams Highlight Joel Klatt&#8217;s All-Time Texas Team"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt6 mg-b-15 article-content\" data-v-f4e318d2=\"\">With No. 1 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxsports.com\/college-football\/texas-longhorns-team\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Texas<\/a> set to face No. 3 Ohio State in the biggest game of the year \u2014 and with the showdown airing on FOX \u2014 we asked <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxsports.com\/personalities\/joel-klatt\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Joel Klatt<\/a> to do something special: build his all-time Texas Longhorns football team.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt6 mg-b-15 article-content\" data-v-f4e318d2=\"\">From legends like Tommy Nobis and Vince Young to modern stars, Klatt had tough choices to make as he pieced together an all-time team from one of college football\u2019s most tradition-rich programs.<\/p>\n<p>Joel Klatt&#8217;s All-Time Texas Team<\/p>\n<p class=\"ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt6 mg-b-15 article-content\" data-v-f4e318d2=\"\"><strong>Head coach: <\/strong>Mack Brown<\/p>\n<p class=\"ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt6 mg-b-15 article-content\" data-v-f4e318d2=\"\"><strong>Klatt&#8217;s case: <\/strong>&#8220;He&#8217;s one of the classiest guys ever. He won a national championship and had sustained success for a decade \u2014 winning 10 games every single year.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt6 mg-b-15 article-content\" data-v-f4e318d2=\"\">Brown set a high standard at Texas throughout his 16-year tenure from 1998-2013. He finished with the second most wins of any Longhorns coach (158), only behind Darrell Royal. (Photo by: Jamie Squire\/Getty Images) <\/p>\n<p class=\"ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt6 mg-b-15 article-content\" data-v-f4e318d2=\"\"><strong>Quarterback: <\/strong>Vince Young<\/p>\n<p class=\"ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt6 mg-b-15 article-content\" data-v-f4e318d2=\"\"><strong>Klatt&#8217;s Case: <\/strong>&#8220;Vince Young was the single greatest college football player I played against.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt6 mg-b-15 article-content\" data-v-f4e318d2=\"\">Klatt, who was a former quarterback at the University of Colorado, played his final college game against Young and the Longhorns. Young was consistent across all three seasons he played at Texas, but his senior year was one of the best individual college seasons of all time. He completed 65.2% of his passes for 3,036 yards and 26 touchdowns, adding 1,050 yards and 12 TDs on the ground. He led the NCAA in yards per completion while earning Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year honors. Young led the Longhorns past the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxsports.com\/college-football\/usc-trojans-team\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">USC Trojans<\/a> in the 2005 national championship game.<\/p>\n<p><img  width=\"640\" height=\"427\" loading=\"lazy\"\/> <\/p>\n<p>Vince Young led Texas to its latest National Championship victory, in 2005. (Photo by Karl Wright \/Icon SMI\/Icon Sport Media via Getty Images) <\/p>\n<p class=\"ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt6 mg-b-15 article-content\" data-v-f4e318d2=\"\"><strong>Running back: <\/strong>Ricky Williams<\/p>\n<p class=\"ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt6 mg-b-15 article-content\" data-v-f4e318d2=\"\"><strong>Klatt&#8217;s Case: <\/strong>&#8220;In that Heisman year, [Williams] was spectacular. Ricky Williams was so productive at Texas.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt6 mg-b-15 article-content\" data-v-f4e318d2=\"\">Williams is the natural choice as he&#8217;s Texas&#8217; all-time leader in rushing yards, racking up 6,279 yards in his career. He dominated during his junior year, leading the NCAA in rushing yards (1,893) and rushing touchdowns (25). He&#8217;s a College Football Hall of Famer.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt6 mg-b-15 article-content\" data-v-f4e318d2=\"\">Nobis was a physically imposing linebacker. In 1963, he was the only sophomore starter on a Longhorns team that won the National Championship.
