New York City\u2019s socialist Democratic mayoral frontrunner Zohran Mamdani<\/a> should express more \u201cgratitude\u201d for America instead of just harping on the country\u2019s problems, Vice President JD Vance charged Thursday.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Vance<\/a>, 41, took a swipe at the New York assemblyman in an interview with Fox News host Will Cain, after explaining that his beloved, late grandmother, \u201cMamaw,\u201d was a lifelong Democrat \u201cwho loved this country and felt gratitude for this country\u201d \u2014 which he said doesn\u2019t appear to be the case with Mamdani.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cDoes Mamdani, when you hear him speak \u2014 is this a man who feels gratitude for the United States of America? Is this a man who feels grateful for all of the opportunities, the incredible bounty of this country?\u201d the vice president said on \u201cThe Will Cain Show.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know the guy, but my sense is he\u2019s had a very good life in this country. It would be nice for him to occasionally show a sense of gratitude, instead of just attacking the United States for all of its problems,\u201d Vance added.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mamdani has been critical of President Trump and US support for Israel on the campaign trail. AP<\/p>\n

Mamdani, 33, was born in Uganda to Indian parents who brought him to the Big Apple when he was 7 years old. <\/p>\n

He graduated from Columbia University in 2014, after identifying himself as Asian and African American<\/a> on his application to the Ivy League School, and only spent three years in the workforce<\/a> before being elected to the New York State Assembly in 2020.<\/p>\n

Mamdani is a staunch critic of capitalism, and five years before his meteoric rise, he argued that Communist godfather Karl Marx\u2019s \u201cend goal\u201d of \u201cseizing the means of production\u201d<\/a> should be championed by aspiring Democratic Socialist politicians.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Vance said his grandmother \u2014 \u201ca lifelong Democrat\u201d \u2014 would find Mamdani\u2019s rise to be \u201ccrazy.\u201d The Will Cain Show<\/p>\n

Vance similarly slammed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, arguing that he appeared ungrateful for US support and Trump\u2019s efforts to end Russia\u2019s war, during an Oval Office meeting in February. The Will Cain Show<\/p>\n

\u201cMamaw would say this is crazy,\u201d Vance said of what his grandmother, Bonnie Blanton Vance, would think of Mamdani\u2019s rise.\u00a0<\/p>\n
