So for the University of San Diego tennis player to make the main draw at Wimbledon is the stuff of dreams.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA lot of emotions, but the main one is happiness,\u201d Tarvet said. \u201cIt\u2019s a lot of work that goes into it, getting to where I am today. A lot of people put in work to help me get this far. The last year, two years\u2026 just a lot of emotion. So thankful.. Just enjoying the moment. It doesn\u2019t happen too often so it\u2019s important to love it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tarvet is a reigning All-American at USD and the team\u2019s No. 1 singles player. He defeated Alexander Blockx in four sets to advance to the main draw in one of his best efforts ever. Tarvet served up five aces, hit 57% of his first serves and seven of eight break points in the biggest victory of his career.<\/p>\n<p>Tarvet grew up 23 miles from the famous grounds at Wimbledon and now will get to play there. Draws will be released this weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Tarvet is world No. 719 and is the lowest-ranked Brit to make the main draw since 2017 after defeating No. 124, No. 126 and No. 210 in qualifying matches.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEver since I was a kid, it\u2019s always been a big dream of mine,\u201d Tarvet said. \u201cGrowing up in Britain it\u2019s obviously something I always wanted to do coming from here, watching all those great players. It\u2019s a dream come true. Just really, really happy to be a part of it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Also in the singles draw is former USD tennis player August Holmgren of Denmark. The 27-year old Holmgren is 7-4 on the ATP and ranked 187 in the world and has previously qualified for the French and Australian opens.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIncredible achievement,\u201d USD coach Ryan Keckley said. \u201c These young men to qualify for the most prestigious tournament in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Coronado native in doubles draw<\/p>\n<p>Coronado native Ryan Seggerman is into his first Wimbledon doubles draw with partner Matthew Romios of Australia.<\/p>\n<p>Seggerman has previously played in the\u00a0 French Open and the Australian Open making him one of the most accomplished San Diego tennis players in history.<\/p>\n<p>Seggerman and Romios recently defeated Alexander Erler and Constatin Frantzen to win the Emilia-Romagna Tennis Cup.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are so proud of him,\u201d Seggerman\u2019s mother Pam said. \u201cHe\u2019s worked so hard to get this far. Wimbledon is a dream come true.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>PLL in San Diego<\/p>\n<p>The professional outdoor lacrosse tour hits Torero Stadium Friday and Saturday. The PLL has several players with San Diego Seals, including Trevor Baptiste of the New York Atlas.<\/p>\n<p>The Denver Outlaws play the California Redwoods at 6 p.m. Friday followed by the Atlas playing the Utah Archers at 8:30 p.m.\u00a0 On Saturday, the Philadelphia Waterdogs play the Redwoods at 3 p.m. followed by the Boston Cannons playing the Carolina Chaos at 5:30.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Oliver Tarvet grew up in England.
