{"id":183972,"date":"2025-08-29T05:28:13","date_gmt":"2025-08-29T05:28:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/183972\/"},"modified":"2025-08-29T05:28:13","modified_gmt":"2025-08-29T05:28:13","slug":"robbins-island-wind-farm-off-tasmania-gets-environmental-approval-after-years-of-delays","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/183972\/","title":{"rendered":"Robbins Island wind farm off Tasmania gets environmental approval after years of delays"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">The federal government has approved a 100-turbine wind farm on Robbins Island in north-west Tasmania following seven delays to the decision, and multiple court appeals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">The up-to-900-megawatt facility will be the largest in Tasmania, and will be built on the known migratory path of the critically endangered orange-bellied parrot.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">The project, by ACEN Australia, required Commonwealth approval due to its potential impact on the parrot, and a facial tumour disease-free population of Tasmanian devils.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Federal Environment Minister Murray Watt has confirmed the project&#8217;s approval, after it was delayed seven times by his predecessor, Tanya Plibersek, since 2022.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Three green parrots sitting on a perch, background is blurred.
