Listen to it below.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;When I wrote \u2018Another Life,\u2019 I was thinking about all the lives we carry,\u201d Shakes vocalist and guitarist <a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/artists\/brittany-howard\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Brittany Howard<\/a> shared in a statement. \u201cThe ones we&#8217;re living right now, the ones that slipped away because of different choices, the what ifs, the what wasn&#8217;t meant to be, the goodbyes, and the chance encounters that feel divine. This song is about those threads and how they stretch across time and space, connecting every version of who we are. It\u2019s about letting them come together, letting them harmonize, and realizing that goodbye isn\u2019t really goodbye. It\u2019s more like I\u2019ll see you later.\u00a0A collective story that never stops unfolding. I\u2019m glad we opened this door into this reality of us making music together again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Alabama Shakes\u2014the trio of Howard, Heath Fogg, and Zac Cockrell\u2014went on official hiatus in 2018. Since then, Howard has released two solo albums under her own name: 2019\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/reviews\/albums\/brittany-howard-jaime\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jaime<\/a> and 2023\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/reviews\/albums\/brittany-howard-what-now\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">What Now<\/a>.
