Fans of Erykah Badu<\/a> are going to have to wait longer for new music from the Dallas R&B legend.<\/p>\n

Badu said on Instagram Thursday night that her upcoming album release is being delayed. The album, her first in 15 years, was expected to drop on Friday.<\/p>\n

In her Instagram post<\/a>, she chalked up the delay to the Alchemist, her collaborator on the project, who, she said, told her to share the news. It\u2019s unclear when the music will be released.<\/p>\n

Badu and the Alchemist, the stage name of Alan Maman, had been performing from the record, called Abi & Alan, on a 10-city North American tour<\/a> that recently wrapped in Austin. They released their first song from the album, \u201cNext to You,\u201d in June.<\/p>\n

Abi & Alan marks Badu\u2019s first full-length project since 2010\u2019s New Amerykah Part Two: Return of the Ankh. She also released a mixtape, But You Caint Use My Phone, in 2015.<\/p>\n

Badu revealed that she was working on the new album<\/a> in a March story from Billboard<\/a>. She also told the outlet then about her focus as an artist.<\/p>\n

\u201cI tour eight months out of the year for the past 25 years,\u201d she said. \u201cThat\u2019s what I do. I am a performance artist. I am not a recording artist.\u201d<\/p>\n

Her last hometown show was in June, when she headlined a Juneteenth concert<\/a> at the Bomb Factory in Deep Ellum<\/a>. She also premiered then another new song, called \u201cEchos 19 (mix 122).\u201d <\/p>\n
