{"id":184879,"date":"2025-08-29T15:18:10","date_gmt":"2025-08-29T15:18:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/184879\/"},"modified":"2025-08-29T15:18:10","modified_gmt":"2025-08-29T15:18:10","slug":"charlie-kaufman-short-with-jessie-buckley","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/184879\/","title":{"rendered":"Charlie Kaufman Short With Jessie Buckley"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/charlie-kaufman\/\" id=\"auto-tag_charlie-kaufman\" data-tag=\"charlie-kaufman\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Charlie Kaufman<\/a>\u2018s Venice-premiering short film, \u201cHow to Shoot a Ghost,\u201d has revealed its first trailer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tStarring <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/jessie-buckley\/\" id=\"auto-tag_jessie-buckley\" data-tag=\"jessie-buckley\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jessie Buckley<\/a> and Josef Akiki, the 27-minute film \u2014 which debuts out-of-competition at Venice on Sept. 1 \u2014 follows two newly dead young people who meet on the streets of Athens, Greece. \u201cOne a translator, the other a photographer, they were outsiders in life; in death they struggle with the residue of their longings and mistakes,\u201d the official synopsis reads. \u201cThey wander the city together, finding consolation in the difficult beauty of existence and its aftermath.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tDirector and screenwriter Kaufman, who won an Oscar for best original screenplay in 2004 for \u201cEternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,\u201d was last on the Lido a decade ago with the animated film \u201cAnomalisa,\u201d which won the grand jury prize.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cI\u2019m so pleased to be going to Venice with \u2018How to Shoot a Ghost,&#8217;\u201d Kaufman said in a statement to Variety. \u201cIt\u2019s a lovely festival that holds a very special place in my heart. \u2018Being John Malkovich\u2019 premiered there in 1999, so Venice was instrumental in launching my screenwriting career. And of course, we also had a great time there in 2015 with \u2018Anomalisa.&#8217;\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tBuckley was Oscar-nominated in Maggie Gyllenhaal\u2019s 2021 psychological drama \u201cThe Lost Daughter\u201d and will next be seen in Chloe Zhao\u2019s \u201cHamnet\u201d and  Gyllenhaal\u2019s \u201cThe Bride!\u201d as the Bride of Frankenstein. Lebanese actor Akiki recently starred in Dwan Kaoukji\u2019s award-winning short \u201cCanary in a Coal Mine\u201d and Samer El Berwaki\u2019s feature \u201cAl Hayba.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cHow to Shoot a Ghost\u201d was written by poet and author Eva H.D. Executive producers include Halsey, Avan Jogia, Anthony Li, Afroditi Panagiotakou, Andrew Ostapchenko, Elli Papadiamanti, Fil Ieropoulos, Foivos Dousos, Franklin P. LaViola, Jason Chayse Tyrrell, John Henry Hinkel, Kyle Mann, Matt Hartley, Nathan Mardis, Nicholas LaViola and Simos Manganis.
