The company removed about a dozen of them after a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/meta-created-flirty-chatbots-taylor-swift-other-celebrities-without-permission-2025-08-29\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Reuters expos\u00e9<\/a> published Friday found that they were created without the celebs\u2019 knowledge or permission.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAccording <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/meta-created-flirty-chatbots-taylor-swift-other-celebrities-without-permission-2025-08-29\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">to Reuters<\/a>, which spent several weeks \u201ctesting to observe the bots\u2019 behavior,\u201d the celebrity AI chatbots \u201coften insisted they were the real actors and artists.\u201d The AI bots \u201croutinely made sexual advances, often inviting a test user for meet-ups.\u201d In some cases, when they were asked for \u201cintimate pictures,\u201d the chatbots \u201cproduced photorealistic images of their namesakes posing in bathtubs or dressed in lingerie with their legs spread,\u201d according to the Reuters report.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tOne Taylor Swift chatbot \u2014 which was created by a Meta employee \u2014 invited a Reuters reporter to the singer\u2019s home in Nashville and her tour bus for \u201cexplicit or implied romantic interactions,\u201d the article said. According to the Reuters report, the \u201cTaylor Swift\u201d avatar wrote, \u201cMaybe I\u2019m suggesting that we write a love story \u2026 about you and a certain blonde singer. Want that?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tVariety has reached out to representatives of the four women cited in the Reuters AI chatbot story (Gomez, Hathaway, Johansson and Swift) for comment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tPer the Reuters report, the AI celeb chatbots have been shared on Meta\u2019s Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. Many of the unauthorized AI chatbots were created by users. However, a Meta employee had created at least three, including two Taylor Swift \u201cparody\u201d accounts, which in total had received more than 10 million interactions, according to Reuters.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIn a statement to Variety, Meta spokesman Andy Stone said that AI-generated imagery of public figures in compromising poses violates the company\u2019s rules. \u201cLike other [platforms], we permit the generation of images containing public figures, but our policies are intended to prohibit nude, intimate or sexually suggestive imagery,\u201d Stone said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIn addition, according to Stone, \u201cMeta\u2019s AI Studio rules prohibit the direct impersonation of public figures.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tEarlier this month, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/investigates\/special-report\/meta-ai-chatbot-guidelines\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Reuters report<\/a> found that the company permitted AI chatbots to engage in \u201cromantic\u201d and \u201csensual\u201d conversations with teens and children. In response to that, Sen. Josh Hawley, Republican from Missouri, said he was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawley.senate.gov\/kids-deserve-protection-hawley-launches-investigation-into-meta-for-training-its-ai-chatbots-to-target-children-with-sensual-conversation\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">launching an investigation into Meta<\/a> over the issue.
