Meanwhile, Spieth completely collapsed and shot a back-nine score of five-over par 41, including a quadruple bogey seven on the par-three 12th hole.

The former world number one looked shell-shocked as his swing deserted him, while the Englishman snuck through the back door to take the spoils, getting the better of Spieth by three shots in the end.

Unfortunately for Willett though, his Masters success was, and still is, his one and only victory on the PGA Tour.

Willett’s PGA Tour record since 2016 Masters win

The now 36-year-old lost his game completely not long after triumphing at Augusta National.

He hasn’t won again on the PGA Tour since that magical Sunday in 2016, although he has tasted victory three times on the DP World Tour – in 2018, 2019 and 2021.

Willett went on to play in the 2016 Ryder Cup at Hazeltine after his Masters win, but he lost all three of his matches.

He has recorded just eight top-10s on the PGA Tour over the past nine years.

In 2025, he has just one top-10 to his name in 10 events, only two top-25 finishes and has missed four cuts.

Life after winning a major for the first time often proves to be extremely difficult. Willett obviously wouldn’t change his win at the Masters in 2016 for anything, but it’s fair to argue that it hindered his future chances of success in the long run.

That said, the Englishman is only 37, and he has plenty of time left to get his game back to where it needs to be.

The Masters has produced some of the most enthralling back-nine finishes in the history of the game throughout…

[47
17647,1430,62,17648,67,132,68
0":"post-18575","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-golf","8":"tag-danny-willett","9":"tag-golf","10":"tag-sports","11":"tag-the-masters","12":"tag-united-states","13":"tag-unitedstates","14":"tag-us
["GET
