NEW YORK CITY (WABC) — The New York Carnival Parade has taken up a number of different names over the years, but no matter what you call it, the celebration has remained a staple of Caribbean pride, culture and creativity in the city for decades.<\/p>\n

Eyewitness News has been there every step of the way to cover what is considered the nation’s largest Caribbean cultural festival attracting more than a million jubilant participants and spectators.<\/p>\n

The weekend-long celebration dates back to the 1920s, when it’s believed to have started in Harlem before moving to Brooklyn in the mid-1960s.<\/p>\n
