{"id":186229,"date":"2025-08-30T03:06:11","date_gmt":"2025-08-30T03:06:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/186229\/"},"modified":"2025-08-30T03:06:11","modified_gmt":"2025-08-30T03:06:11","slug":"be-more-german-politico","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/186229\/","title":{"rendered":"Be more German \u2013 POLITICO"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Opponents of French Prime Minister Fran\u00e7ois Bayrou look near certain to bring down his minority government early next month <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/fance-pm-francois-bayrou-hold-high-stakes-confidence-vote-budget-debate\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">over his plans to slash the budget by nearly \u20ac44 billion<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Since snap elections last summer delivered a hung parliament, Macron has tried but failed to convince lawmakers to engage in the type of compromise and coalition-building exercises <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/france-election-absolute-majority-prime-minister-alliance-three-blocs-emmanuel-macron\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">common in parliamentary democracies like Italy and Germany, but rare in France<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>When asked if Bayrou\u2019s likely ouster would lead to another dissolution of parliament and fresh elections, Macron said he would not engage in \u201cfictional politics.\u201d He also ruled out resigning.<\/p>\n<p>In Toulon, the two governments presented nearly 30 common projects and eight road maps outlining common priorities for European policies spanning <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/france-germany-vow-deepen-ties-green-rules-power-links-energy-reset\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">from energy<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/pro.politico.eu\/news\/203798\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">financial services<\/a>. They also announced a bilateral summit on digital sovereignty in Berlin on Nov. 18, and another on space in France next year.<\/p>\n<p>However, they found no common position on the EU\u2019s trade deal with South America\u2019s Mercosur countries, which France opposes and Germany strongly supports.
