HOUSTON \u2014 A robbery suspect who took off from police before crashing into a METRO bus has been taken into custody, according to Harris County Precinct 1 Constable Alan Rosen.<\/p>\n
The incident occurred at approximately 4:54 p.m. at Yale and North Loop East when the suspect’s vehicle struck another vehicle during the police pursuit, which then struck the right rear side of METRO Bus #1992. The bus was carrying 10 passengers at the time of the collision.<\/p>\n
Four juveniles and one adult were taken to the hospital, Constable Rosen said on social media. The bus operator and one passenger sustained minor, non-life-threatening injuries, according to a spokesperson with METRO.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The suspect, who was driving with a flat tire, abandoned their vehicle after the crash and fled on foot before being apprehended by law enforcement.<\/p>\n
Constable Rosen provided real-time updates on the incident through social media, first reporting the crash and foot chase, then confirming the suspect’s capture minutes later.<\/p>\n
METRO Police and Safety personnel responded to the scene to assist with the ongoing investigation. The scene remains active as authorities continue their work.<\/p>\n
Seen at the intersection were at least nine law enforcement SUVs, a METRO bus, a pickup truck that had smashed into a power pole, a black SUV near the front of the bus, and a black Cadillac sedan in the ditch near the freeway. The pickup truck had a Home Depot logo on the hood. The Cadillac’s rear window had been blown out.<\/p>\n
Harris County Precinct 1 Constable Mark Herman’s office said Precinct 1 was helping Montgomery County Constables with a vehicle chase.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The sequence of events wasn’t clear. The condition of the 10 Metro bus passengers isn’t known at this point. No additional details about the original robbery or potential injuries from the crash were given.<\/p>\n
