That tension set the stage for a now-viral exchange. After the Fever\u2019s narrow 76-75 win over the Sparks, Fever veteran Sydney Colson jumped into the conversation online, tweeting:<\/p>\n

\u201cAt a certain point in the league\u2019s existence, ima need for Kelsey Mitchell to get the same whistle as other stars. The way she gets assaulted is insane actually & I\u2019ve considered roping my sister in to have her office pursue charges.\u201d<\/p>\n

It didn\u2019t take long for Clark to respond, throwing playful shade<\/a> at the league\u2019s recent crackdowns with one line:<\/p>\n

The jab wasn\u2019t random. It was a direct nod to teammate Sophie Cunningham\u2019s recent battles with the WNBA over officiating criticism. Cunningham, who is nursing an MCL injury and is out for the season, has been vocal about bad officiating.<\/p>\n

The league has already fined her three times: $500 for mocking referees in a TikTok lip-sync, $1,500 for venting on the debut episode of her Show Me Something podcast, and another fine for her comment about rookie phenom Paige Bueckers. The third fine made clear the league was losing patience with players questioning its officials.<\/p>\n
