{"id":187087,"date":"2025-08-30T10:38:09","date_gmt":"2025-08-30T10:38:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/187087\/"},"modified":"2025-08-30T10:38:09","modified_gmt":"2025-08-30T10:38:09","slug":"fox-news-anchor-john-roberts-hospitalized-with-severe-malaria-chicago-tribune","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/187087\/","title":{"rendered":"Fox News anchor John Roberts hospitalized with \u2018severe\u2019 malaria \u2013 Chicago Tribune"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Veteran Fox News anchor <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/johnrobertsFox\/status\/1960416900820656374?r\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">John Roberts is opening up on his \u201csevere\u201d case of malaria<\/a> after suffering \u201cuncontrolled shivering\u201d while on the air this week.<\/p>\n<p>The 68-year-old, who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/2025\/02\/10\/fox-news-host-john-roberts-dead-ai-grok-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">refuted AI reports of his death<\/a> earlier this year, revealed he\u2019s currently battling a serious bout of the mosquito-borne illness that the CDC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/malaria\/treatment\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">warns can be life-threatening<\/a> \u201cif not quickly diagnosed and appropriately treated.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Roberts said he was diagnosed with the potentially fatal disease on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had been hurting from the top of my head to the tip of my toes. Literally everywhere,\u201d he told People. \u201cI was also <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/fox-news-john-roberts-hospitalized-with-severe-malaria-exclusive-11799757\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">beset with uncontrolled shivering<\/a> all during my show.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/shows\/america-reports\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cAmerica Reports\u201d<\/a> host said he initially thought the symptoms he experienced were \u201cjust muscle cramps and aches\u201d until he began shivering. That\u2019s when he began believing he had the flu.<\/p>\n<p>After a visit to the rheumatologist, who determined his platelets and white blood cells were both low, he rushed to the emergency room, where he officially received his diagnosis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought, \u2018Of course you have malaria \u2026 You never do anything in small measures,\u2019\u201d Roberts said. \u201cBut I was a little scared. Malaria can be deadly if left unchecked.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know exactly how \u2018severe\u2019 it was from a medical classification, but it sure felt severe,\u201d he added. \u201cI have never felt that sick in my life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While thanking Fox News correspondent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/person\/g\/trace-gallagher\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trace Gallagher<\/a> for filling in for him on air, Roberts said on social media he was \u201cthe only person in the hospital with malaria.
