Helayne Seidman<\/p>\n<p>The ongoing work didn\u2019t stop the regular swarm of tourists from descending on Perry Street, as they do every day. Helayne Seidman<\/p>\n<p>Daniel and Barbara Lorber<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/01\/14\/us-news\/owner-of-carrie-bradshaws-sex-and-the-city-brownstone-asks-nyc-for-gate-to-block-pesky-fans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> had pleaded <\/a>with the city\u2019s Landmarks Preservation Commission for a gate in January, since the brownstone sits in Greenwich Village\u2019s historic district.<\/p>\n<p>Barbara Lorber, 80, had said she only <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/08\/23\/us-news\/carrie-bradshaws-iconic-sex-and-the-city-brownstone-not-used-for-season-3-of-and-just-like-that\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">let the immensely popular HBO show use her front steps<\/a> in the \u201990s because she felt bad for the young location scout at the time, and that she never could have imagined the daily chaos it would unleash on their lives \u2014 more than 20 years after the original series\u2019 final episode aired.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the time, no one knew the show would turn into anything long lasting \u2026 much less, the iconic fantasy vehicle and touchstone for NYC\u2019s magic that it has become,\u201d she lamented.<\/p>\n<p>The Lorbers bought the four-family building in 1979 for just $131,350, according to the deed \u2014 the equivalent of roughly $585,000 today. <\/p>\n<p>They live on the ground level, and rent out three apartments, one on each floor of the brownstone.<\/p>\n<p>The stoop was used by HBO for Sarah Jessica Parker\u2019s Carrie Bradshaw character\u2019s apartment.
