(File photo courtesy of the FBI)<\/p>\n<p>Eight people were arrested during an anti-human trafficking sting recently conducted in San Diego and National City, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/oag.ca.gov\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">California Attorney General\u2019s Office<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Along with the arrests, the A.G.\u2019s office said 13 \u201cpotential victims and survivors\u201d \u2013 including one minor \u2013 were \u201crecovered and offered support services\u201d as a result of \u201cOperation Better Pathways.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The eight people were arrested on suspicion of four felonies and four misdemeanors, though the A.G.\u2019s office didn\u2019t specify the alleged crimes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHuman trafficking and sexual exploitation have no place in California,\u201d California Attorney General Rob Bonta said in a statement issued Friday. \u201cThrough Operation Better Pathways, we\u2019re fighting to hold perpetrators accountable and help survivors get a fresh start.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The multi-agency <a href=\"https:\/\/oag.ca.gov\/bi\/httf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">San Diego Human Trafficking Task Force<\/a> conducted the operation from Aug. 12 through Aug. 15 in \u201careas known for sexual exploitation\u201d with undercover officers posing as people offering sex for sale as a way to target commercial sex buyers. <\/p>\n<p>The task force also used surveillance and \u201cvarious investigative techniques to directly identify and stop alleged human trafficking and sexual exploitation in real time,\u201d the A.G.\u2019s office said.<\/p>\n<p>The California Attorney General\u2019s Office said anyone who is or knows someone who may be a victim can call the National Human Trafficking Hotline at 1-888-373-7888 to access help and services.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"An officer talks with a sex trafficking victim.
