{"id":188230,"date":"2025-08-31T00:29:10","date_gmt":"2025-08-31T00:29:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/188230\/"},"modified":"2025-08-31T00:29:10","modified_gmt":"2025-08-31T00:29:10","slug":"jacob-elordi-oscar-isaac-earn-ovation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/188230\/","title":{"rendered":"Jacob Elordi, Oscar Isaac Earn Ovation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tGuillermo del Toro\u2019s \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/frankenstein\/\" id=\"auto-tag_frankenstein\" data-tag=\"frankenstein\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Frankenstein<\/a>\u201d injected some life into Venice on Saturday night, earning a rapturous 13-minute standing ovation, the longest of the festival so far. <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/oscar-isaac\/\" id=\"auto-tag_oscar-isaac\" data-tag=\"oscar-isaac\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Oscar Isaac<\/a>, who plays the titular mad scientist, and <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/jacob-elordi\/\" id=\"auto-tag_jacob-elordi\" data-tag=\"jacob-elordi\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jacob Elordi<\/a>, who embodies his monstrous creation, couldn\u2019t hold back their tears as the crowd continued to applaud.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tDuring the lengthy ovation, del Toro waved to the crowd and shared multiple hugs with Elordi and Isaac. A visibly emotional Elordi also got a kiss on the cheek from Isaac as the two embraced, with Elordi resting his chin on Isaac\u2019s head.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe gothic sci-fi film \u2014 which is competing for the prestigious Golden Lion at the festival \u2014 is a retelling of Mary Shelley\u2019s 1818 classic horror novel following a brilliant scientist who brings a monstrous creature to life, ultimately resulting in both of their undoings. The 149-minute, $120 million epic could become a major awards contender for Netflix.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIsaac and Elordi were joined at Saturday night\u2019s premiere by co-stars Mia Goth (Dr. Frankenstein\u2019s love interest Elizabeth Lavenza), Christoph Waltz (wealthy arms merchant Harlander) and Felix Kammerer (Dr. Frankenstein\u2019s younger brother William, who is engaged to Elizabeth). Among the stars who walked the red carpet before taking a seat in the audience at the Sala Grande Theater included Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jessica Williams, Jesse Williams and Sofia Carson.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAfter walking the red carpet, Elordi and Isaac gamely stopped for selfies and autographs with the hordes of fans outside the theater. Inside the venue, the masses were just as excited to see the \u201cEuphoria\u201d star. Someone shouted, \u201cWe love you, Jacob!\u201d to which the actor replied, \u201cLove you too!\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIn <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2025\/film\/features\/jacob-elordi-oscar-isaac-frankenstein-interview-makeup-netflix-1236492420\/\">Variety\u2018s cover story<\/a> on the film, Elordi revealed that he spent 10 hours in the makeup chair to transform into an unrecognizable monster, complete with patchworked skin. \u201cThere\u2019s so many different layers to the costume,\u201d Elordi said. \u201cWhen he\u2019s born, he\u2019s wearing nearly nothing. His chest is open and his head is high. Then, as he starts to experience pain, as we do as a teenager, he starts to hunch his shoulders. And as an adult, he closes off.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tMexican auteur del Toro was last in Venice with his 2017 dark fantasy \u201cThe Shape of Water,\u201d which won the Golden Lion and went on to earn four Oscars, including for best picture and director. With \u201cFrankenstein,\u201d set to release in theaters on Oct. 17 and on Netflix on Nov. 7, del Toro says he\u2019s culminating a lifelong dream to adapt the famous monster story.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cI\u2019ve been following the creature since I was kid,\u201d he said at <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2025\/film\/festivals\/guillermo-del-toro-frankenstein-isnt-ai-metaphor-afraid-stupidity-1236502779\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2025\/film\/festivals\/guillermo-del-toro-frankenstein-isnt-ai-metaphor-afraid-stupidity-1236502779\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Saturday afternoon\u2019s Venice press conference for the film<\/a>.
