Many people <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/verizon\/comments\/1n4793z\/service_outages\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">have been unable to connect<\/a> and make or receive calls for hours, while <a href=\"https:\/\/downdetector.com\/status\/verizon\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">DownDetector\u2019s tracker <\/a>peaked in the afternoon at around 3:30PM ET with more than 20,000 reports. Some customers report their service has continued to function throughout the day, so it\u2019s unclear what the cause is exactly.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">Downdetector\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/downdetector.com\/status\/verizon\/map\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">outage map<\/a> showed hotspots in many cities, and Verizon didn\u2019t specifically list affected areas. On X, the @VerizonSupport account <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/VerizonSupport\/status\/1961902907973931060?t=ip8BBqRSGLUq1EAQQN7K2g&amp;s=19\" rel=\"nofollow\">confirmed the issue<\/a> in response to customers\u2019 questions, but didn\u2019t have additional details on restoration or how widespread it is.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">Verizon\u2019s Karen Schulz responded to our inquiry about the issue and confirmed the outage via email, saying,<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"duet--article--blockquote ewrhy30 _1xwtict9\">\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup ewrhy38 _1xwtict1\">We are aware of a software issue impacting wireless service for some customers. Our engineers are engaged and we are working quickly to identify and solve the issue.
