The man, who has not yet been identified, was hit by an incoming No. 2\/3 train heading uptown around 6:15 p.m. at the 125th St. station at W. 125th St and Lenox Ave.<\/p>\n
He was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n
The subway station does have some safety barriers along the platform\u2019s edge, but only at a few spots near the turnstiles.<\/p>\n

Dereck Deblois, 32, who lives in Harlem, was waiting on the platform later that evening. He scoffed that the barriers offer scant protection.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo be honest,\u201d he said, \u201cwhen you think about other cities like London that have, like, automatic doors that actually are intended to protect people, like, I don\u2019t exactly know what this is going to do, from a public policy perspective, to prevent people from being pushed in front of the train.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s like a 3-foot wall,\u201d he shrugged, adding, \u201cThey\u2019re not really across the whole platform.\u201d<\/p>\n
