The company is in discussions to acquire a voice cloning startup called Play AI, Bloomberg <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2025-06-26\/meta-in-talks-to-buy-ai-voice-startup-playai-in-push-for-talent\" target=\"_blank\">reported<\/a>, citing anonymous sources.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The tech giant aims to buy the startup\u2019s tech and bring on board some of its staff, the report said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Play AI lets anyone clone different kinds of voices that they can use for AI-powered use cases, such as customer service, per its website. The startup has raised $23.5 million in total, and its investors include 500 Startups, Kindred Ventures, Race Capital, 500 Global and Soma Capital, per Crunchbase.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meta currently lets creators on its social platforms <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2024\/07\/30\/meta-is-rolling-out-its-ai-studio-in-the-u-s-for-creators-to-build-ai-chatbots\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">build their own chatbots<\/a>, and has added <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2025\/06\/11\/meta-ai-gains-video-editing-capabilities\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">video editing capabilities to its Meta AI<\/a> chatbot.
