{"id":189140,"date":"2025-08-31T09:54:12","date_gmt":"2025-08-31T09:54:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/189140\/"},"modified":"2025-08-31T09:54:12","modified_gmt":"2025-08-31T09:54:12","slug":"former-gvsu-receiver-visits-team-after-earning-spot-on-chicago-bears","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/189140\/","title":{"rendered":"Former GVSU receiver visits team after earning spot on Chicago Bears"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ALLENDALE &#8211; NFL receiver Jahdae Walker returned to Grand Valley State University on Saturday to cheer on his former teammates.<\/p>\n<p>Walker was on the sidelines as GVSU beat Lincoln University 45-9 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollandsentinel.com\/story\/sports\/college\/2025\/08\/30\/andrew-schuster-leads-gvsu-football-to-dominating-win-in-opener\/85872450007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in the season opener<\/a> for the Division II football powerhouse.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe got a weekend off,\u201d Walker said. \u201cSo I texted Coach (Scott) Wooster and I was like, \u2018Can I come to the game and get a sideline pass?\u2019 I was excited to see the guys again. It\u2019s definitely a great environment. One of the best Division II&#8217;s ever. It\u2019s an awesome place and it\u2019s awesome to be back.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 6-foot-3 wide receiver, made the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/sportsdata.usatoday.com\/football\/nfl\/teams\/chicago-bears\/326\" data-autotag=\"69c69e75-f807-4542-90d2-619e6d4a23b1\" rel=\"noopener\">Chicago Bears<\/a> 53-man roster this week after a strong preseason.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"related-link\"><strong style=\"margin-right:3px\">More: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollandsentinel.com\/story\/sports\/college\/2025\/08\/30\/andrew-schuster-leads-gvsu-football-to-dominating-win-in-opener\/85872450007\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">&#8216;Confident&#8217; Andrew Schuster leads GVSU football to dominating win in opener<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s amazing,\u201d Walker said. \u201cIt\u2019s a blessing. I\u2019m just trying to keep going.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Walker spent his first two collegiate seasons at GVSU. His sophomore season, the Cleveland native had 30 catches for 623 yards and four touchdowns.<\/p>\n<p>After the season, he transferred to Texas A&amp;M. He went undrafted after two strong seasons at Texas A&amp;M and signed as a free agent with the Bears.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEarly on in the transfer-portal world, there\u2019s some heartbrokenness and frustration when guys leave,\u201d Wooster said. \u201cBut then you take a deep breath and continue the relationship with guys like Jahdae.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Walker said he was happy to spend his first two years in Allendale.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEverything happens for a reason,\u201d he said. \u201cBut being here was a huge part of my process and my development for my college career.
