SAN ANTONIO – A tiny kitten was rescued, all thanks to a caring neighbor, and two city agencies came together.<\/p>\n
According to a post on Facebook from San Antonio Animal Care Services (ACS), a neighbor heard the trapped kitten’s cries from deep inside a storm drain.<\/p>\n
The neighbor tried everything they could to help, even placing a branch into the hole for the kitten to climb out. But despite their best efforts, the kitten was stuck.<\/p>\n
When ACS officers arrived at the scene, they got to work to save the cat, but quickly stumbled upon a major obstacle.<\/p>\n
“Our officers rushed to the scene, and when it became clear that the drain cover wouldn\u2019t budge, they called in the big helpers: San Antonio Public Works,” said ACS.<\/p>\n
Workers with public works got to the scene and jumped into action, using a torch to cut the bolts off the heavy metal cover.<\/p>\n
Once the cover was off, ACS Cpl. Foster was able to climb down into the drain and safely bring the kitten to safety.<\/p>\n
The kitten, named J-Rad, in honor of the team that worked to save him, has been transferred to the care of San Antonio Pets Alive.<\/p>\n
