{"id":189992,"date":"2025-08-31T20:13:09","date_gmt":"2025-08-31T20:13:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/189992\/"},"modified":"2025-08-31T20:13:09","modified_gmt":"2025-08-31T20:13:09","slug":"septa-halts-planned-service-changes-following-court-ruling-homepage-top-stories","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/189992\/","title":{"rendered":"SEPTA halts planned service changes following court ruling | Homepage Top Stories"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PHILADELPHIA, Pa. &#8211; Friday&#8217;s ruling from a Common Pleas Court judge stops SEPTA&#8217;s planned service and rate changes, for now.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The court order says SEPTA must halt all service cuts and fare increases that were not already in place.<\/p>\n<p>SEPTA says it is\u00a0fully complying with the court\u2019s order, and advises customers that system-wide fare increases and regional rail service cuts will not go into effect this week as had been scheduled, according to a SEPTA press release.<\/p>\n<p>Another hearing is set for Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>SEPTA\u2019s current budget calls for service cuts, fare increases, workforce reductions and a series of other cost-cutting measures to close a $213 million structural budget deficit.<\/p>\n<p>SEPTA says the future of a proposed state funding solution that would help close that deficit remains uncertain.<\/p>\n<p>Service levels will stay as they were on Friday, and remain in place until further notice:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Fares: The 21.5% fare increase that was scheduled to begin on Monday, Sept. 1, has been put on hold. All fares will remain at current prices until further notice. Customers can purchase September weekly and monthly passes at pre-fare increase prices.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Regional Rail: The 20% service cut scheduled to begin on Tuesday, Sept. 2, has been put on hold. Service on Tuesday will follow the same schedules that were in effect last week.<\/p>\n<p>Due to these last-minute changes, real-time schedules on SEPTA\u2019s website, the SEPTA App and third-party apps may not be available right away.<\/p>\n<p>SEPTA asks customers to refer to PDF schedules dated June 15, 2025, on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.septa.org\/schedules?mode=regional-rail\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SEPTA.org<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Buses &amp; Metro: The 20% service cut that started on Aug. 24 will remain in place.
