Labor Day,<\/a> celebrated on the first Monday of September, is a federal holiday that recognizes and honors the contributions of the American workforce.<\/p>\n

To prepare for the holiday, here\u2019s information about businesses and services that will remain open, have adjusted hours or be closed completely.<\/p>\n

Grocery stores and supermarkets<\/p>\n

The majority of grocery stores will remain open, including Walmart, Kroger, Tom Thumb and Trader Joe\u2019s. Hours may vary by store, so check with your local store before heading over. <\/p>\n

All Costcos will be closed for the holiday, according to its website.<\/p>\n

Banks and government offices<\/p>\n

Banks in Texas will be closed on Labor Day. Federal offices, such as the United States Postal Service and other shipping services, will remain shuttered.<\/p>\n

Schools and libraries<\/p>\n

Most schools, private and public, will also be closed.<\/p>\n

Public libraries will be closed, but members can access material on the Dallas Public Library website 24\/7. <\/p>\n

Public transportation<\/p>\n

Most Dallas Area Rapid Transit services will operate on a weekend schedule<\/a> for Labor Day. The Trinity Railway Express will not be in service.<\/p>\n

DART\u2019s customer information center will be open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for trip-planning needs, while administrative offices will be closed.<\/p>\n

DART\u2019s paratransit services will operate on a Saturday schedule, and the paratransit scheduling center will be unavailable.<\/p>\n
