Fewer Americans may be starting side hustles<\/a> than in recent years, but part-time jobs that offer remote work and flexible hours are still in demand.<\/p>\n

According to a recent FlexJobs survey<\/a>, the top three industries offering remote, part-time jobs are education and training; medical and health; and project management.<\/p>\n

Taking on a part-time role is a great way to upskill<\/a> and explore your career options, says FlexJobs career expert Toni Frana.<\/p>\n

“If you want to build skills, or if you’re interested in trying something new, a part-time job can really give you the opportunity to try that without fully committing to a full-time role,” she says.<\/p>\n

Money is another major motivator for workers seeking part-time gigs: according to a FlexJobs report<\/a> from March, 61% of workers say that they have side jobs<\/a> to supplement their primary income.<\/p>\n

“Overall, there are still many opportunities for part-time remote work for people who are looking for that, which is great,” Frana says.<\/p>\n

FlexJobs analyzed job listings from over 60,000 companies in their database between January and July to find roles that offer part-time, remote work. Each job title on the list requires less than 30 to 35 hours per week and allows employees to work from “anywhere with an internet connection.”<\/p>\n

These are the top 10 job titles with the most remote, part-time postings this year.<\/p>\n

  2. Career Consultant<\/li>\n
  3. Nurse Practitioner<\/li>\n
  4. Graphic Designer<\/li>\n
  5. Translator<\/li>\n
  6. Administrative Assistant<\/li>\n
  7. Customer Service Representative<\/li>\n
  8. Copywriter<\/li>\n
  9. Video Editor<\/li>\n
  10. Marketing Specialist<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Mental health, project management and administrative roles saw the most year-over-year growth: the number of remote, part-time jobs available in these industries increased by 27% since last year.<\/p>\n

    Frana theorizes that the rise of telehealth services during the Covid-19 pandemic led to the current popularity of remote therapy and nursing roles.<\/p>\n

    These roles “can work very well to still give patients the quality standard of care that they need and desire” in a remote setting, she says.<\/p>\n

    Creative, “computer-based” roles like copywriter and graphic designer are also well-suited to a part-time, remote structure, Frana says.<\/p>\n

    “Depending on what the company’s or the client’s needs are, you can do this type of work on a freelance, contract basis or as an employee,” she says.<\/p>\n

    Beyond flexibility and extra income, there are several benefits to taking on a part-time, remote role, Frana says.<\/p>\n

    For those hoping to change careers<\/a>, finding a part-time role in your desired field can be a great stepping stone, according to Frana.<\/p>\n

    Taking on a part-time role is also a good option for full-time workers who are looking to pay off debt, pad their savings accounts or prepare for a big purchase.<\/p>\n

    Most of the listed jobs have fairly flexible schedules, Frana says, but she cautions full-time workers to evaluate their other time commitments before taking on another job.<\/p>\n

    “This is something that you’re adding to your life, in addition to your full-time job and any other activities you have,” she says.<\/p>\n

    “You are able to do it on your own time, but you have to have that time,” Frana continues.<\/p>\n
