{"id":190726,"date":"2025-09-01T03:54:10","date_gmt":"2025-09-01T03:54:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/190726\/"},"modified":"2025-09-01T03:54:10","modified_gmt":"2025-09-01T03:54:10","slug":"taylor-fritz-records-convincing-win-to-reach-us-open-quarterfinals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/190726\/","title":{"rendered":"Taylor Fritz records convincing win to reach US Open quarterfinals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Don\u2019t count out the American men \u2014 or man \u2014 just yet.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The last representative, Taylor Fritz, doesn\u2019t look ready to go anywhere.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The fourth seed is headed back to the quarterfinals at the US Open, after his impressive straight sets 6-4, 6-3, 6-3 victory over No. 21 Tomas Machac at Louis Armstrong Stadium.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The early departures of <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/08\/29\/sports\/ben-shelton-retires-from-match-with-shoulder-injury-in-us-open-crusher\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">No. 6 Ben Shelton<\/a>, No. 14 <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/08\/31\/sports\/tommy-paul-falls-apart-in-fifth-set-of-third-round-loss-at-us-open\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tommy Paul<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/08\/29\/sports\/frances-tiafoe-upset-in-third-round-of-us-open-in-heartbreaker\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">No. 17 Frances Tiafoe<\/a> left only Fritz. Jason Szenes for the NY Post<\/p>\n<p>Fritz, 27, conceded just 13 points on his dominant serve without facing a break point in the brief one-hour and 38-minute rout.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He broke Machac late in each of the first two sets to take a commanding lead.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In the third, a Machac double fault gave Fritz an early break, and he cruised from there.<\/p>\n<p>After dropping a set in his previous two matches, he didn\u2019t have nearly as much trouble.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Fritz did enough in the return game and was in complete control with his overpowering serve, notching 14 aces and winning an absurd 35 of 39 points on his first serve.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:0.85449219;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"36986475\" width=\"504\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/taylor-fritz-united-states-serves-110463434.jpg\" alt=\"Taylor Fritz serving at the US Open Tennis Championships.\" class=\"wp-image-36986475\"  \/>Taylor Fritz serves during his Aug. 31 match at the US Open. Jason Szenes for the NY Post<\/p>\n<p>Fritz advances to face the No. 7 Novak Djokovic\/Jan-Lennard Struff winner on Tuesday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Last summer, he broke through here to reach the final, where he lost to Jannik Sinner.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In doing so, Fritz became the first American man to play for a Grand Slam title in 15 years.
