{"id":190866,"date":"2025-09-01T05:17:10","date_gmt":"2025-09-01T05:17:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/190866\/"},"modified":"2025-09-01T05:17:10","modified_gmt":"2025-09-01T05:17:10","slug":"rublev-disagrees-with-3000-u-s-open-fine-for-using-foul-language","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/190866\/","title":{"rendered":"Rublev disagrees with $3,000 U.S. Open fine for using foul language"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!\n  <\/p>\n<p class=\"speakable\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/world\/world-regions\/russia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Russian tennis star<\/a> Andrey Rublev doesn\u2019t like the reasoning behind the $3,000 fine he received during his second-round match at the U.S. Open.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"speakable\">Rublev, ranked No. 15 in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/sports\/tennis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">men\u2019s singles<\/a>, was fined for using foul language during his match against American Tristan Boyer.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But in the heat of competition, Rublev doesn\u2019t feel he should be docked thousands because of his words.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Depends on the situation,&#8221; he said, per <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/08\/31\/sports\/andrey-rublev-calls-out-us-opens-cursing-rules-after-fine\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">The New York Post<\/a>, before winning his third-round match in five sets on Saturday. &#8220;When you are talking to yourself in a bad way, it\u2019s my decision how I do it. You cannot, in my opinion, you cannot charge for this. If you talk to the referee or umpire with bad words, yes, like when you do it towards someone or you scream on all courts, yes, obviously. But when you talk to yourself, it\u2019s your decision how you talk. It doesn\u2019t matter even if the umpire hears what you are saying or not for this. (Al Bello\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p>Rublev added that &#8220;in all of sports&#8221; it is a normal occurrence for expletives to be said, especially &#8220;in the crucial moments.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/sports\/daniil-medvedevs-heated-us-open-outburst-following-first-round-defeat-results-hefty-fine\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"><strong>DANIIL MEDVEDEV&#8217;S HEATED US OPEN OUTBURST FOLLOWING FIRST-ROUND DEFEAT RESULTS IN HEFTY FINE<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It\u2019s sports. It\u2019s life,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;The same with every person outside in life in crucial moments, in stressful moments. I don\u2019t believe all of us are super holy and never say bad words in the crucial moments. It\u2019s the same thing\u2026 like I said if you\u2019re doing it towards someone or you\u2019re doing it too much openly, yes, but with yourself, it\u2019s your decision how you talk.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Rublev isn\u2019t the only Russian who was fined this year at the U.S. Open. (Mike Frey\/Imagn Images)<\/p>\n<p>Medvedev exploded after the chair umpire allowed Bonzi another first serve when a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/sports\/us-open-photographer-claims-hes-totally-innocent-after-being-center-players-meltdown\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">photographer walked across the court<\/a> during play. Medvedev didn\u2019t like that Bonzi had another first serve on what was match point in the third set.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Rublev, the godfather of Medvedev\u2019s children, offered support to his compatriot after that incident made headlines.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If he wants to change and needs help he has me, a lot of other friends and family that will help him,&#8221; Rublev said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Rublev was able to take down Coleman Wong in a thrilling five-set third-round match on Saturday. Rublev lost the first set, 6-2, before taking the next two, 6-4, 6-3.
