My son just jumped right into action,\u201d Larry Pickett Sr. told the outlet.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s just amazing to see him in action. And it\u2019s just not surprising because we\u2019ve watched him his whole life do amazing things.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Startling video posted on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/share\/v\/1CEL4ARV5c\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Facebook<\/a> by his father shows his son fearlessly running toward the vehicle and pulling the man out from the driver\u2019s seat.<\/p>\n<p>Soon after moving the man to safety, the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThank you Jesus that this man will live to see another day! I am so grateful for my son LJ for saving his life!\u201d his father shared.<\/p>\n<p>Black Knights sophomore safety Larry Pickett Jr. didn\u2019t think twice before rushing toward a car engulfed in flames on Route 9W in Fort Montgomery early Sunday morning. Instagram \/ Larry Pickett, Sr.<\/p>\n<p>Moments after Pickett Jr. pulled the man to safety, the vehicle was completely consumed by flames. Instagram \/ Larry Pickett, Sr.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot only is he making an impact in the classroom and on the football field at the United States Military Academy at West Point, but he\u2019s also making a difference in his community!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pickett Sr. credited his son\u2019s West Point training for giving him the courage to save the man\u2019s life.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is more than a display of leadership; it\u2019s a testament to the character West Point is building in him\u2014a readiness to go into the line of fire, not just for his country, but for anyone who needs it,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Video posted on Facebook by his father shows his son fearlessly running toward the vehicle and pulling the man out from the driver\u2019s seat. Instagram \/ Larry Pickett, Sr.<\/p>\n<p>Firefighters later arrived on the scene and put out the blaze. Fort Montgomery Fire Department<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo see that courage and selflessness in action firsthand was truly incredible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Firefighters eventually responded to the crash site and extinguished the blaze, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/share\/p\/1PL3xeT3GH\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fort Montgomery Fire Department<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Pickett Sr. said he didn\u2019t know the man\u2019s exact condition but believed his injuries weren\u2019t serious.<\/p>\n<p>West Point also recognized Pickett Jr.\u2019s \u201cheroic actions\u201d and wrote in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/share\/p\/161ZwiSfQ1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Facebook <\/a>post Sunday that the young cadet \u201crunning towards danger to save lives is the embodiment of the Army Values and Warrior Ethos.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pickett Sr. also revealed to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wral.com\/news\/local\/enloe-football-star-rescues-man-fort-montgomery-aug-2025\/?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WRAL<\/a> that even before his son attended West Point, he was driven by a desire to help others.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI remember right before we brought him to West Point, he actually chased down somebody that was shoplifting from a store in Raleigh,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Larry Pickett Jr. (R) with his father, Larry Pickett Sr. Instagram \/ Larry Pickett, Sr.<\/p>\n<p>Pickett Jr. (R) was a two-way standout on the football field at Enloe High School.
