Amtrak trains from New York City to Albany experienced delays Sunday during the busy Labor Day weekend. <\/p>\n
Roughly 80% of the trains were delayed for a variety of different issues. <\/p>\n
Passengers headed from New York Penn Station to the Albany \u2013 Rensselaer train station experienced delays from 30 minutes to over an hour Sunday. <\/p>\n
On Amtrak\u2019s website the issues were from track work, speed restrictions, freight train interference, mechanical assessment, late arrival of a train into Penn Station, late release from a maintenance facility, and servicing train equipment. <\/p>\n
This left some passenger\u2019s frustrated today.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s frustrating. It really is. You can understand it, but you know anticipation of a really busy time. Times when we should be using public transportation. And it\u2019s really frustrating,\u201d said one passenger travelling to Albany from NYC. <\/p>\n
Amtrak is undergoing a massive renovation project for the East River Tunnels in New York City that has led to a reduction in service to Albany over a three-year period. Amtrak did not blame any of the delays on Sunday on this project. <\/p>\n
