{"id":192281,"date":"2025-09-01T20:01:10","date_gmt":"2025-09-01T20:01:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/192281\/"},"modified":"2025-09-01T20:01:10","modified_gmt":"2025-09-01T20:01:10","slug":"foreigners-50th-anniversary-tour-to-feature-njcu-professor-in-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/192281\/","title":{"rendered":"Foreigner&#8217;s 50th anniversary tour to feature NJCU professor in 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"LJ5TL3GKLBHFJDXN3J2OT3FEGM\">Dave Eggar is getting ready to pick up where he left off with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foreigneronline.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.foreigneronline.com\/\">Foreigner<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"BSKJTWQYBFH2DMPU76IM6U3VH4\">Eggar, an adjunct professor of music at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.njcu.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.njcu.edu\/\">New Jersey City University<\/a>, is an acclaimed cellist who has been nominated for seven Grammy awards. He is known for fusing orchestral arrangements with mainstream music.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"5AIX46NNTJHFJJESXW6OH4CD44\">He will be joining Foreigner, one of the most commercially <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nj.com\/entertainment\/2024\/06\/classic-rock-legends-member-annoyed-over-rock-hall-induction-what-did-we-do-wrong.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.nj.com\/entertainment\/2024\/06\/classic-rock-legends-member-annoyed-over-rock-hall-induction-what-did-we-do-wrong.html\">successful rock bands of the 1980s<\/a>, on a 10-concert, three-week orchestral tour next March.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"YMUF4Z3D35DQJFG2YPECWFZUOY\">The two-state orchestral tour will coincide with Foreigner\u2019s 50th anniversary.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"low\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"2010 Los Angeles Film Festival - Musical Performance - Dave Eggar\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"hero-image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Y27VQHRTY5AANADFJMW7X4MWRI.jpg\" \/>Dave Eggar performing in June 2010 in Los Angeles. Eggar will be going on tour in March 2026 with Foreigner.WireImage<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"LLZ5OP2F7NGGZK2Y67QER6CT64\">Eggar and conductor Chuck Palmer will write the arrangements based on Foreigner\u2019s songs, New Jersey City University officials said as the school announced the professor\u2019s participation in the tour.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"VYQ5MK6ML5G6HHEB4U4LI4QO74\">\u201cIt\u2019s incredible\u201d to have the opportunity to reimagine Foreigner\u2019s extensive catalogue of songs, Eggar told NJ Advance Media.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"2GDNOJ6BLNCZFNTFINBFTD5B5Y\">\u201cI want classical music to come together with rock in a way that\u2019s adventurous and imaginative,\u201d Eggar said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"6Q6A6VEJZBHNNAMZZMSNA3EENE\">Eggar first teamed up with Foreigner around a decade ago. The group\u2019s live album, \u201cForeigner with the 21st Century Orchestra and Chorus,\u201d featured reworked versions of the band\u2019s greatest hits, including \u201cFeels Like the First Time,\u201d \u201cHot Blooded\u201d and \u201cDouble Vision.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"BMPLHYJ6PNHOVDVAE6WOD3Q6V4\">For Eggar, 46, performing with a celebrated music act is nothing new. He has a lengthy resume of collaborations, including working with Beyonc\u00e9, Pearl Jam, Evanescence, Coldplay, Josh Groban, The Who and Bon Jovi.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"NFDLFQYMFZHTTDAH6YRK2HDJBY\">Foreigner has a different lineup than when the group began in 1976. The only remaining original member, Mick Jones, wrote many of Foreigner\u2019s best-known songs with former lead vocalist Lou Gramm, who departed in the early 2000s.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"2LESJIWQLBCATNWERFLD23UOTE\">The band recently announced that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.syracuse.com\/entertainment\/2025\/07\/classic-rock-band-announces-new-tour-dates-with-original-singer.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.syracuse.com\/entertainment\/2025\/07\/classic-rock-band-announces-new-tour-dates-with-original-singer.html\">Gramm will be reuniting <\/a>with the band for some concerts in December. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"4DBVSLGFWVAC5NWAYFSCKWYXWA\">Eggar described working with Jones as \u201clike spending time with a great fiction writer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"2MMHQGBJ6JETNJ7TNGZGDXWQQQ\">He cited the 1981 song \u201cJuke Box Hero\u201d as an example of the band\u2019s storytelling. It is a song that tells the story of a boy shut out of a sold-out concert who decides to buy a guitar and becomes a star.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"XSHTNBLMDVBV3ONOYIL2OVE3UE\">Asked to name his favorite Foreigner song, Eggar said it would be \u201ca tossup\u201d between \u201dWaiting for a Girl Like You\u201d and \u201cUrgent.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"BSR4O7MYPBHEJFEF4PKC7RPCHQ\">Eggar began playing the cello and piano at age 3. He holds degrees from Harvard University and completed the Juilliard School\u2019s doctoral program.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"XU3FIYAEIVB3PCB5LQHAPH5YZM\">Since 2020, he has been an adjunct professor teaching undergraduate and graduate students in New Jersey City University\u2019s Multi-Style Strings program. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"M5RFWJ2LFRCI7OCYI7A6QEN2GU\">\u201cDave\u2019s mission to \u2018not just cross over, but to cross through\u2019 multiple genres of music are apparent with all of his releases. Whether it\u2019s classical, reggae, bluegrass, jazz, pop, or world music, he finds a common voice within his musical vocabulary and introduces it with his own unique imaginative vision,\u201d according to his biography on the university\u2019s website.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"S5VJZ67IEJDI7MSH7E72PH4GR4\">Eggar said the concert tour will not necessarily interrupt his teaching schedule.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"V4NVYVDYC5GGLFMTIHEKTKRIEY\">\u201cDue to the COVID years, we\u2019ve learned how to be successful with hybrid teaching,\u201d Eggar said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"LGURMMSW4JFNNMADPYG3WRDLLQ\">Big changes may be on the horizon at New Jersey City University. The school is pursuing a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nj.com\/education\/2025\/05\/2-nj-universities-seal-huge-merger-deal-reveal-new-name.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.nj.com\/education\/2025\/05\/2-nj-universities-seal-huge-merger-deal-reveal-new-name.html\">merger with Kean University<\/a>, though the process is not expected to be complete until 2027.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"A7DX3SEY2ZDHHDQUPNA4LJ7T64\">New Jersey City University\u2019s fall semester begins Tuesday. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"BCHXEHCJHZDLXLRSSOYB4IW7S4\">Foreigner\u2019s tour will begin March 6 in Nevada and conclude March 22.
