PHOENIX (AZFamily)<\/b> \u2014 Firefighters prevented a fire from spreading to a church in south Phoenix Sunday night. <\/p>\n

First responders were dispatched to the area of 7th Street and Broadway Road<\/a> around 9 p.m. on reports of a structure fire.<\/p>\n

When firefighters arrived, they found \u201cheavy smoke and fire\u201d coming from a vacant building, according to Phoenix Fire Department. <\/p>\n

Because the building was fully engulfed, firefighters worked to protect an adjacent church<\/a> building by spraying it with water from above. <\/p>\n

No injuries were reported and no one was displaced. Fire investigators will continue working to determine the cause of the blaze. <\/p>\n
