{"id":192423,"date":"2025-09-01T21:16:09","date_gmt":"2025-09-01T21:16:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/192423\/"},"modified":"2025-09-01T21:16:09","modified_gmt":"2025-09-01T21:16:09","slug":"lapd-officers-shoot-injure-man-in-jefferson-park-nbc-los-angeles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/192423\/","title":{"rendered":"LAPD officers shoot, injure man in Jefferson Park \u2013 NBC Los Angeles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Los Angeles Police Department Monday released some details of its investigation into an officer shooting, which injured a man in the Jefferson Park neighborhood of South Los Angeles over the weekend.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Police said when officers were conducting patrol inside a liquor store at the corner of 9th Avenue and West Jefferson Boulevard at around 1:10 a.m. Sunday, they spotted a man who appeared to be concealing a firearm.<\/p>\n<p>When the officers tried to speak with the man, who later was identified as 33- year-old Malik Salaah, the suspect removed a gun from his waistband and fired multiple rounds at the officers inside the store and as he was exiting the business, the LAPD said.<\/p>\n<p>To look for Salaah, who ran away on foot, police set up a perimeter and found him within minutes. The LAPD added an unloaded 9mm pistol, at slide lock with a seated high-capacity magazine, was found at the scene and submitted as evidence in the case.<\/p>\n<p>During the process of taking him into custody, he was shot by bullets fired by officers.
