But that wasn\u2019t the case as coach Hansi Flick preferred to <a href=\"https:\/\/barcauniversal.com\/hansi-flick-manages-to-bring-the-best-out-of-barcelona-forward\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">start with in-form Ferran Torres<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Lewandowski on his game time<\/p>\n<p>In a recent press conference (h\/t <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mundodeportivo.com\/futbol\/fc-barcelona\/20250901\/1002524223\/lewandowski-normaliza-falta-minutos-enganemos-estuve-lesionado.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mundo Deportivo<\/a>), Lewandowski talked about his return to the Barcelona team and the road ahead, amid the lack of minutes for him at the start of the season.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cLet\u2019s not kid ourselves, I was injured for two weeks. But the season has just started, and it\u2019s very long. I wasn\u2019t under pressure to play as many minutes as possible as soon as possible,\u201d <\/strong>he said. <\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cAugust\u00a0is the ideal month to get into rhythm. Everything starts in\u00a0September, so I knew I had to take it easy, without rushing. The season is very long; you have to look at it as a whole. But I\u2019m happy to be 100% fit,\u201d<\/strong> he added.<\/p>\n<p>It appears Lewandowski is expecting things to normalise after the international break and eventually replace Ferran as Barcelona\u2019s main striker.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u201cWe\u2019ll see how I feel and what the intensity of the games will be. I expect a start to the season as tough as last year\u2019s, and we must be prepared for that. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cI prefer to focus on quality, not quantity, so we\u2019ll talk about it. (Photo by Han Myung-Gu\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p>Lewandowski on Poland captaincy and Probierz<\/p>\n<p>The veteran striker has had an eventful summer, which started with a flare-up with national team coach Michal Probierz.<\/p>\n<p>After being stripped of captaincy, the Pole surprised everyone by announcing his international retirement. This led to Probierz eventually quitting and Lewandowski coming back and becoming a captain again, this time under new coach Jan Urban.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u201cThis isn\u2019t the time to recount what happened in June, but from a human perspective, I can\u2019t say it was an easy situation. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cThe beginning was a bit difficult from a purely emotional point of view, but with each passing day, I received the support of the fans; that was something special for me. I want to thank them for that,\u201d<\/strong> he said about the events in June.<\/p>\n<p>Talking about his return to the Polish national team, Lewandowski is delighted and ready to fight for his nation once again.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cWe all understand what it means to join the Polish national team. I\u2019m just as happy to be in the camp now. We\u2019re aware of our situation, of what happened, especially on the pitch, because that\u2019s the most important thing. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201c<strong>We have to put some things behind us to focus on the future and what lies ahead. I wasn\u2019t happy about it because every change of coach is also a failure for someone,\u201d <\/strong>he said. <\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cThis topic has already been discussed, I\u2019ve expressed my opinion on it, I have nothing to add, and I want to focus on what\u2019s next,\u201d<\/strong> he added.<\/p>\n<p>Lewandowski will play a key role for Poland as they take on the Netherlands and Finland in the upcoming international break.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cI think in the next two matches we will not only perform well, but we will also get points; that\u2019s our goal.
